Update 7 flight model improved I think

Testing update, joystick binding broken, no trim, no rudder.

Take-off and circle, wide, correct, coming in at 180kn, 2nd wire, easy peasy.

Before, I really (really) had to be close to the groove, and exact pitch.

Suspect lots of little improvements on the flight model envelope / flaps / hitting the deck ..

:)

I’m so looking forward to checking this out, only had time last night to rebind and check out the NVGs, it’s like Xmas with all these things to unwrap and not knowing where to start. Lol, looks like it’s gonna be a good weekend, thx for sharing.

(not yet implemented) means it is coming

ICLS with VEC coupling

Me thinks ICLS stands for ICarrierLS

and

ACLS for Automatic Carrier Landing System (prob)

in a academic doc about ACLS

"The United States Navy currently has only one aircraft type that is capable of fully automatic carrier approaches using the ACLS. This aircraft is the F/A-18 Hornet." (2007)

F/A-18A-D Hornet Current and Future Utilization of Mode I Automatic Carrier Landings

http://trace.tennessee.edu/cgi/viewc...t=utk_gradthes

Several miles from the deck all F/A-18 fly-by-wire systems are coupled with the Carrier computer

over the data link the F/A-18 is then fully hands off guided down the glide slope to the deck

I haven't noticed any FM update. It feels still the same :(

Why would you be trapping at 180kn's?? Haven't felt a change in FM at all!

Was approaching at 180, good control, trapped 150 I think.

It's not about the numbers its about how the F18 behaves, which before the update 7 its controlled behavior was only in a very (very) narrow envelope, which was a bit suspect I'd say.

(I was not the only one)

Try flying off the numbers and feel how it's correctable now (unlike before).

I fly on speed AoA, full flaps, gear down and feels no different.

If you're precisely in the groove you won't know the difference. Like I said before. Be at the top of the groove. Go 100 feet to the right and up with speed. And then land after all. That is what seems to be easier (and more real).

If you’re landing at 150 knots you’re either overweight or not using full flaps.

Why would I care exactly .. ?

Cause you could blow up

I didn't.

I also am running a computer simulation, I don't care. Why should you.

Because he wants to do it right obviously.

But good for you for buying a study simulation and landing without flaps.

But maybe I misread your comment and you meant you were just trying things out, hence not caring about blowing up cause it‘s a desktop simulator.

Who said I didn't use flaps?

What is wrong with you guys?

Flaps down is 250ktn

Probably because you paid for a study level sim to fly correctly and not like you’re in Battlefield. lol

So you’re either not aoa or wayyy overweight, hence why I asked. If you’re at or under 33k with full flaps, you won’t be anywhere near 150 knots.

Maybe because you are claiming FM improvements and not flying on AoA or in a manner that would reveal any improvements? Feedback is worthless unless you are flying by the book. This would be like claiming the A/C doesn't accelerate properly and you are flying with the airbrake up then saying it accelerates better after the patch lol.

You should be in the 135 KIAS range in groove any faster and you are either overweight or not on AoA.
