VAICOM PRO plugin for VoiceAttack

Hey Hollywood, I'm using Alerax's LSO script in a lot of mission builds lately and It's great, is there anyway I can edit the category and segments to put some of the commands into the plugin? even the carrier info and weather with maybe just slot 1 options for offline play? can't see any easy way to edit.

Really confused about how to get 2.5.8.4 Vaicom Pro working

If I add a custom command like "Takeoff Checklist Start" in VoiceAttack which turns the electrical, engine, flaps, nose wheel steering, that works in the game. Anything that refers to comm menu however does not. VoiceAttack is picking up the command, VAICOM doesn't seem to be doing anything in-game.

It is not recognizing my module (su27 - displays ---- in the PTT screen) - unclear why. DCS is installed on H:/Games/DCS World but saved game files are in C:/Users/**username**/Saved Games/DCS

I've specified this in the VAICOM Pro configuration but it doesn't seem to do anything.

This is my first install of VAICOM pro so nothing to clean up. Installing on DCS Open Beta 2.5.4.27314

Appreciate any help. Getting comms working in DCS (SRS, vaicom, etc.) seems harder than actually flying some of these modules :)

Thanks.

It didn't work at first but eventually it did. The video you pointed to is a tad bit confusing since you say saved games folder but you are showing the app install directory in the video in configuration.

DCS seems to have created two separate saved games dir (/saved games/dcs and /saved games/dcs.openbeta - i cleared out VAIcom/export.lua in both in the script dir and restarted DCS/VoiceAttack multiple times and then it worked.

Now I seem to have broken Tacview in the process. That's not your issue to fix though.

Thank you for the quick response.

@Hollywood_315

Thanks, once again, for another great update...

I have a custom profile containing cockpit controls and would like to implement the new 'Daisy Chain' facility but when I open the 'Include Profile Commands' panel in VA and click on the 'plus' icon, the drop-down list is empty/blue.

Your advice please....

Solved!

Hollywood,

Just a heads up. If I launch Voice Attack with a profile loaded other than the Vaicom Profile, I always get the message: "The keywords database was updated Apply Finish Steps to update the VA profile". This even though it has been updated.

If Vaicom Profile is loaded it does not do this unless Keywords were actually updated.

Not a biggie, but can cause confusion.

@Don Thanks for the heads up dude. That make sense actually, currently the check is performed regardless of which profile is loaded. I'll have a look. Grtz

I run aircraft control profiles and I had Viacomm included too but it was a PIA as had to stop and start VA to get Vaicom to work again

Thanks to slicker55

I deleted all the Vaicom commands out my profiles then linked Vaicom to them instead

No more crashing of Vaicom, early days yet but I can change profiles without any problem awesome

Just downloaded Pro version and setup with great program along with VA.

Just a quick question on the Chatter Themes extension pack. I cannot select "Link to Radio Power". I suspect that it is related to license which I have not entered anywhere.

Where should I go to enter the number. I have updated license for Viacom itself no problem. Just cannot find where to put chatter code.

@Firebird Enable debug mode to see which aliases are missing from the profile.

@Kariyann @lancerr

@PeneCruz Look for the Import F10 menu option and use keywords editor to edit.

I took a look at the video another time, deleted another time all my Luas. This didn’t change anything in a first time.

But yesterday, without doing anything else, all worked properly. This seems to be solved.

Strange but I will not change anything now.

Still getting the twice button press issue, but it’s not a problem.

Thanks for video link. That was nice to view.

It covered activation key but does not mention chatter as separate activation to Viacom Pro. So still not sure how to implement. Does it go in same fields as Pro Key. I was reluctant to do that as I thought Pro key would be overwritten?

Fixed

Took the chance add added in same place as Pro so it now works with chatter!

I would like to share an experience in case it helps others.

Vaicom Pro has been working absolutely fine since first installed many moons ago. When I started it up last night I got the log message in red that my DCS installation is not automatically detected. I spent the next couple of hours following all troubleshooting advice including changing path to DCS installation within Vaicom configuration, manually replacing the LUE files, recovering the VoiceAttack & the DCS Scripts folders from a 2 day old backup etc etc got nowhere.

Then I remembered that I'd had an issue with my kneeboard builder at the weekend, and I found quite quickly that the desktop shortcut 'run as administrator' had mysteriously become un-checked. So on looking at the shortcut for VoiceAttack I found the same thing. So I checked the 'run as administrator' box and what do you know, Voiceattack ran ok, the message was gone!

So I am assuming that a recent windows update unchecked those two desktop shortcut run as administrator boxes, and it might be usefull to others to know that not running VoiceAttack as an administrator can cause this problem.

Thanks for posting that. I've been having problems with VAICOM popping up the Commsn menu all the time, and also DCS crashing. I just checked and my shortcut has the Admin checked.

I saw in another thread that they re-imported the VAICOM Profile and it fixed their problem. So, I just did that.

Before I re-imported the current profile, VAICOM's log would always only show 'something' like this:

4:09:31 PM - Plugin 'VAICOM PRO 2.5' initialized.
4:09:31 PM - Ready for commands.
4:09:31 PM - License: PRO

4:09:30 PM - Plugin 'HCS Elite Plugin v2.12 - (c)2018 HCS VoicePacks Ltd' initialized.
4:09:30 PM - Plugin support enabled.

Now, After I re-imported the current profile, the log shows all this. Which is normal??? This seems like it's doing too much stuff.. Does it really need to'Reset' all of those .lua files and 'Executing automatic lua code installation' ever time it starts?? It's fine if this is normal, but I have never seen it have so many log entries since I started using VAICOM PRO a year ago.

Thanks. I now see that the Debug checkbox is checked. I don't believe I had that checked before. Not sure how it got checked.

In any case, the Comms menu still continues to pop up on it's own. It seems to be doing it less than before. I guess there could be more than one thing causing this problem.

@Weegie If you have chatter enabled it will become audible as soon as a radio is switched on.

@PeneCruz Seems one of your imported F10 menu items got corrupted. Use the reset tab to reset keywords and restart VA.

@Holliwood You'll need the VA licensed version

@Snacks All looking fine.

There is no spoon.

I have got mine all set up again after not using it for a while. I notice every time I start voice attack in admin mode, or regular mode for that matter, it says the keywords have been updated and that I should update the database. So I do that every time.

I have dcs installed on a different drive than C and I've set the path in the voice attack configuration section. It reads the install without issues. Just wondering if that message that comes up every time is something to worry about?

I need some help here Hollywood

I cannot get the pop up to recognnize the aircraft and never have done.

I ran a complete Voice Attack & Vaicomm delete & reinstall

Currently only running Vaicom as the profile, previously I did manually install the luas requested and I noticed that luas that need to sit inside the game itself were not there, but placing them into the correct folders did nothing

During the reinstall I moved both VA & Vaicom to C: they were previously installed on D: unfortunately absolutely no difference whatsoever
