Hi have an ACER Predator 28" 4K with the same TN panel that is in use by the Philips (Innolux), but the acer have G-SYNC too: with G-SYNC activated and constant 60HZ it plays very smooth with a 1080TI.

But you have a 1080: with your spec I would buy a 1440p monitor instead of a 2160p, like the Dell Gaming S2716DGR 27.0" G-SYNC.

Have you considered a 1440p monitor that can operate at a higher refresh rate?

Also investigate the input lag of the display too, check out reviews.

I would say either the Asus ROG 27' P279Q or P278QR: The IPS one is 4ms and the TN one is 1ms, but both have high refresh rates and gsync. There is always the new Acer Predator X27 which is 4k but it's a pretty big hunk of change: 2000 US. I think its 120Mhz but you have to ask yourself if you have the system, or if one actually exists, to drive DCS in 4k at or above 120 fps? Are you paying all that money for a piece of hardware, where the video cards aren't in existence yet to make the most of it?

My take is get a high quality 2k monitor and forget about 4k until the hardware exists to make the most of it. Besides, unless your nose is up against the scree, which it shouldn't be, you're going to find it tough to distinguish 2k from 4k anyways.

I would not go that small at 4K, well not until we know if ED has finished with the spotting system?

You might want to read some of this thread (New visibility model) Some were saying they cannot see targets at 5 miles? Especially guy's with 27 inch monitors @ 4K

I can @ 1440P Standard FOV, think it was around 85ish in that shot.

Reduced down in Photoshop, looks better in sim.

Previous research

Howell carried out a field study in which pilots attempted to detect another aircraft (DC-3) approaching on a collision course.

(DC-3) collision course Over various conditions (detection distance)

5.5 to 8.7 km

3.4 to 5.4 Miles

Knew exactly the approach angle of the target aircraft

17.3 to 23 km

10.7 to 14.9 Miles

About three times larger than the detection distance.
