Forum Warning System FAQ

What is it?

The warning system is simply a way to enforce the rules that have been set in place on these forums. The information is as important to us as it is to you. It shows you what is considered appropriate for these forums and what is not, and with that you can adjust your posting style to suit. All rules have a set warning points amount and are generally applied as is unless its a special case such as a new user or a user that continues to abuse rules over and over.

Read the forum rules here: https://forum.dcs.world/guidelines/

How do I check my warning log?

On your profile page on this forum, you will be able to see if you have any current points or expired points. You are also required to acknowledge warnings the next time you log in.

When should I check my log?

If you have a post removed, or if you see an increase in your warning points it's a good idea to check your log and see if any information is available on the warning you were issued or why your post might have been deleted.

I had a post deleted and...

...there was no note? It's possible you were part of a mass deletion, sometimes an OT rant catches hold and all subsequent posts are deleted. There is really nothing to worry about in this case, but if you still want to understand why your post was removed, you can contact a moderator.

...there was a note with a 0% warning? In most cases, a 0% warning is just a friendly reminder that your post did cut too close to the rules, or possibly it was a mild first offence. There should be a description of why the warning was given or a reference to what rule was broken. Again, if there are any questions, you can contact a moderator.

I received warning points, why?

How we distribute warnings and bans is described in full here. This system was added to try and add a fair and consistent process for dealing with the forum rules.

I checked that link, but my warning doesn't match what is there, why?

Those descriptions are a general guideline, in many cases, we can give a lesser warning for first offences, or a heftier warning if we deem it needed for repeat offenders or those deemed to be simply ignoring rules.

Oh no! I have warning points, I am so embarrassed!

Don't worry, only you and the forum staff can see these points. The general public can't see them.

I've been banned, what should I do?

It's highly unlikely you have been banned, we currently have 3 different states.

  • Moderated Content after 100 Points which means you can still post but the post must be approved by a ED Team Member
  • Restrict from posting content after 200 Points means you have a temp suspension, and will not be able to post to the forums until your warning points expire
  • Suspend from accessing the site This is what is considered a ban, this is not as easy to have happen as legend claims, in fact, management reviews and agrees to any bans, if you reach 300 points you can also hit this but it will not be permanent but will only last until your points expire

If you think the ban was a mistake you can open a support ticket explaining the situation. Otherwise, you just need to wait out your term and review the rules so that you can avoid the same situation in the future. You can also reach out to NineLine or BIGNEWY on Discord to have things explained if you think there was an error.

If you have any further questions, by all means, send me or someone on the Moderation team a PM.
