Bonus system questions

The bonus system is IMO a joke.

 

I can't use it to buy "new" modules and for the older modules can only use the balance for 20% of the module price. Probably a lot cheaper to just wait for a sale.

 

As someone who bought ALL DCS products at full price I feel a bit... unhappy.

lol i realy hope you try to troll, why dont you go to Aldi or Lidl ask them for a discount for products that you have bought two years ago?

I'm not unhappy, because there could be nothing, but as you said, it just really doesn't make any sense that we can't use it for new modules, because we would certainly save more money waiting for a sale.

Also, the fact that keys can no longer be transferred to Steam, but work from steam to the stand alone, means I probably won't be buying from the ED store anyways. :doh:

Unhappy is probably the wrong word because I love DCS and am thankful for the many, many hours of entertainment I have enjoyed with the series since the Black Shark beta.

For those who have purchased all modules, this rule will make the bonus useless and is negative for those customers with high activities.

It means that the more a customer has purchased, the less value bonus keeps.

To use those bonus, customers who already have had all modules have to wait a new module not being marked as NEW! In this case, customers with high activities and always buy 1st day will never get the benefit of the so-called bonus system. It's ridiculous.

Just to play devils advocate... 1st day purchase, which usually means pre-order, or open beta, usually comes with some for of discount, in the case of the Dora, its 20%... sooooooo everybody gets something, no matter your buying habits... just saying... not saying I agree with every aspect of the bonus system... but its not like you are getting punished for buying early.

If I remembered correctly, when Mi8 pre-purchase, it was 49.99 w/o any discount. Then during the following fall sale, it brings discount for those who purchased at that time. After this happened, ED compensated those who pre-purchased mi8 in full price. If, I said IF, no fall sale, where are the 'something' you mentioned?

F86 is coming for release in this month (if everything goes smoothly). If the pre-purchase gives no discount like MI-8, does it mean that to get 'something', we need to wait another two months for fall sale or when its being unmark as new

I don't know how the F-86 will be handled, it is Belsimtek, they might be taking a different approach as the Dora is coming out later and is already available for pre-purchase... dunno.

 

I think if the F-86 comes without any sort of discount, they wont make the same mistake and put it on sale in the Fall... but again, I dont know.

In the bonus system announcement, it says '3rd party partner products may choose to participate in the bonus program at their own discretion'. Here '3rd party partner' just means 3rd party or 3rd party + partner. Although they can have their own decision on calculation of bonus or whether joining the bonus system, and although there can be pre-purchase discount, customers always do 1st day purchase may never find a chance to use their bonus credits due to NEW module.

In this case, IMO, even 20% instead of 30% of full price being allowed to cover by bonus can be better.

That is quite possible... dunno what to say to that, not every bonus will work for every person, there are some people that dont buy product in beta or pre-purchase situations, in that case they dont get the 20% discount of the Dora... so does that mean they are getting cheated of something because they dont like beta or pre-ordering?

 

At the most, ED products are usually 50 bucks... for the quality I get, I am not sweating all this personally, but will probably use my points if there is a module I dont want to buy right out of the gates... I understand all the points raised though, just offering another opinion.

Thanks for your patience and understanding :thumbup:. To me the price is completely OK. 1st day flight of a new module to me sometimes cannot be valued by money, but if I have extra bonus, why not use them to make me even more happier. Hope there would be any improvement from ED

Agreed. I have no complaints about the price. However, I wouldn't mind if I could use my bonus points for modules (that I already have) that I am going to give away. :)

I wish ED would create some other system to take out the bonus. Like for instance for a T-shirt, coffee mug, aircraft model, a hat or some other ED brand product. Or give me the opportunity to give the total amount to ED's developers for a night out on town :thumbup:

Reward points can only be used to create a maximum discount of 30% and cannot be used on already discounted items.

I wanted to distill this down because it took me way too long to figure this out. Hopefully this helps someone else (special thanks to VincentLaw for getting me most of the way) :

- Open the Orders page in one tab (second link above).

- Open the Account page in another tab (first link above).

- From the Order page, copy the bolded 6-digit number from the first order.

- Paste it into the window below "Bonuses registration" and click "Find Order".

- Apply the bonus.

- Repeat the above for each order you have made. (Some orders do not qualify, like if they were already on sale when purchased.)

- Add your new product to your cart. (It will appear as full price.)

- Go to checkout.

- Easy to miss, but there is a "Payment System" area above the SagePay graphic which allows you to check a box which will apply your bonus to your purchase (as much as qualifies).
