Noob needs PC

Recommended Posts

Ok, lemme explain - I want to buy a system in a box (yeah the controls will be seperate - I'm talking PC here only) I desire very good results with the latest DCS (2.5?) without having to build a PC, just not interesed in that, I want a "turn key",

Hey, I'm a guitarist who still plays thru valve/tube amps; what can I say?

What if anything will give me good results in the $1,500 range - that could be upgradable?

I grew up on "Harpoon" and still enjoy those strategic/tactical sims.

If there is an up-to-date thread on here that covers the same question let me know and I'll delete this one.

Cheers guys and thanks. Pete.

Just a plucker from England living in New Jersey.....

Plenty of those threads in here, like 1 every week or so, hard to miss them if you look through the section here.

1500$/€ will likely not make it for what you desire "very good results".

You can start with many of the threads here where folks list parts to put together. I understand you want to buy it outright which is fine. You can use the parts listed in the threads as a guide, including what BitMaster posted above as your guide. But $1500 will get you an OK DCS experience to a GREAT DCS experience. It just depends on how large you want your monitor to be. There's a big difference in requirement for pushing 40" 4K resolution vs 1920x1080 27" screens. So you do need to decide on what size monitor and resolution you're shooting for.

If you want to go with a Ryzen CPU I could put together a very good system for you based on an ASRock X370 Killer SLI motherboard for less than your stated amount.

Over the winter I built a few computers for long term patients at VA hospitals in my area. Gave the guys Oculus VR gear donated by a friend. I have some motherboards, cases and other parts left over that I don't want to be bothered with ebay etc.

I have a Ryzen 5-1600x CPU and am completely satisfied. Your mileage may vary.

Asus ROG Maximus Hero Z690-E, i9-13900KF, RTX 4090, Trident Z Neo 64Gb (4x16) DDR5 6600 C32, EVO 980 Pro 2Tb M.2 Nvme SSD, HP Reverb G2, VKB Gunfighter Modern Combat Pro, MFG Crosswind pedals, Virpil MongoosT-50 throttle, Corsair 7000D Airflow Case, 1200W Asus Platinum G+ PSU, Win10 Pro 64 bit

If you are after 1080p or 1440p gaming, then $1500 might be doable. Core system components will be an i5-8600k or Ryzen 5 2600X, 16GB DDR4 and a GTX 1070 or better. I highly recommend an SSD as the main drive but that isn't terribly expensive any more. This should allow for nearly max detail at a locked 60 fps.

System specs: i5-10600k (4.9 GHz), RX 6950XT, 32GB DDR4 3200, NVMe SSD, Reverb G2, WinWing Super Libra/Taurus, CH Pro Pedals.
