Which graphics board optimal for 1920 x 1080?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I plan to buy a new PC.

As I dont want to buy a new monitor I will only use a resolution of 1920 x 1080.

Which Nvidia will give a good framerate in this resolution?

I want to be far over 30 fps even in crowded places like Las Vegas.

For the CPU I think about something not too expensive around 4 GHz.

How important is 8Gb Video RAM? Is it really necessary?

Thanks for suggestions!

I run Intel/Nvidea . Gtx 1060 will hold vsync (60hz) at very good eye-candy levels . Locking at 60 very important for smoothness and TrackIr .

Yes to 8gb minimum ram . That's good for solo flying . 16gb required for offline campaigns and most will tell you that 32 is required for MP .

Be sure OS and DCS are on an SSD-250 gb minimum .

I5-7600k is relatively inexpensive , 3.8 ghz base clock

It sounds like you're building to a budget , but if you can afford an extra $100 , a Gtx 1070 will allow the option for VR if you decide to go there .

I'd add maybe consider.CPU clock even 9600K anything really DCS needs as higher CPU clock as you can afford and will help if you do go VR or larger screen latter on. ATM 6 cores will do just fine Vulcan API may change that.

1070 or better even a second-hand 1080ti if you can get from a trusted source. I just have reservations about 20xx cards as far as value for money ATM.

16GB recommend min doesn't have to be the fastest ram available.

SSD 400GB 250GB min

GTX 1070 is a minimum if you want to max out all eye candy. I just got GTX 1070 and little bit regreting it, should buy 1080. Now I'm waiting for AMD for their 7nm VPU before grabbing an RTX serie.

I have to disagree there . I ran a 1060 3gb at 1080p for over a year with near-max eye-candy and butter-smooth frames . Only reason i got the 1070 was to prepare for VR . I will say ,though, that the 1070 allows me to run SSAA in conjunction with MSAA , which dioes away with almost all of the shimmering .

I ran the 1070 for about year, good price performance card and was running it at 1440P.

We didn't have SSAA at the time and I would say it would not be good enough at 1440P to run it, at 1080p you should be good.

I recommend not to go under the 1060 (6gb) for 1080P and for some DCS future proofing and if you can go 1070 with 8GB.

EDIT: 30 FPS is ok for other civi sims, for combat sim you really want 60. I aim for and lock my system at 60 fps to smooth it out for Trackir.

1060-6GB or better and you should be fine.

Maybe too late if you already bought a system. Here's mine.

i7-7700k @ 4.5

32g-2400

1060-6g

SSD

With a 1920X1080 monitor and Trackir I get 120fps average and smooth as can be. This is with high settings for everything.

Not sure about Vegas. I don't have Nevada map.

My system runs at this res 60-75 (maxrefresh rate) fps, many settings on high, some on low with GTX960M (mobile), fairly low spec card.

New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, HP Reverb (formermly CV1)

Old-N-busted: i7 4720HQ ~3.5GHZ, +32GB DDR3 + Nvidia GTX980m (4GB VRAM) :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, Rift CV1 (yes really).

The 1070 seems more than adequate for this resolution but inside Dubai city for example it's easy to drop to occasionally to 40fps or below with my system. Typical frame rates seem to be around 70-110.

You got the power management option set to "Prefer maximum performance" in nvidia control panel for dcs.exe?

I was getting drops to 30 fps in VR flying around dubai, until I realized I forgot to setup a dcs profile in nv control panel and change the power management setting after a fresh install of video drivers.

Not saying I'm certain this is the case for you, but worth double checking.
