PRE-PURCHASE DCS: L-39 ALBATROS Discussion Thread

I see "Professional Flight Model" and "Fully modelled weapon system". Does the latter mean "Advanced Systems Modeling"? Or is that perhaps what a clickable cockpit is?

Also, how are new modules decided on? Do ED have a deal with some military to simulate an aircraft and then the sensitive bits are taken out? Or are they just for us, the regular consumers?

Going to a DCS World 1.5 is a nice compromise while E.D. continues work on Multi-Crew, ATC, and the Naval Ops package that are to be part of the full 2.0 release. At least then the other developers can have a fairly stable platform to work in that represents how the new visuals will be presented. I can't wait to hear more when I watch the replay-stream after my return from Camping this weekend. Please WAGS, include the news portion in the replay. Thank you, -Woog

Nothing was stated linking a Naval Ops package to 2.0.

I'm sure there is some rewriting of the base code at this very moment to support Naval Ops. Not a full blown project I'm sure, but just a feeling there is some work going on there already. Sorry for going off topic.

I will make my purchase for the L-39 this evening when I get home from work.

We are getting a lot of good stuff, ALOT... so lets focus on what we are getting and not flood the thread with negative vibes about what we arent getting...

Do not misunderstand me, SiThSpAwN. Not a bad review that I put. When I speak of naval theme, I do not speak of the carrier operations, sure we will have surprises in the future.

By Naval Ops, I was referring to the updated U.S. Carrier with working catapults that WILL be part of 2.0 for the incoming Naval Aircraft. I am very happy to see movement on all fronts from E.D. Progress is good! The L-39 will be a great little addition, and seems to have been developed in record time. -Woog

Thanks for clarification, I may pre-order it then. My only concern was that they would be completely separate modules. Packaging them together but staggering release doesn't bother me at all.:thumbup:

Now this is something I applaud, especially the decision to release the new rendering engine prior to DCS world 2. I have long had the feeling that all the new bells and whistles that were packed into DCSW2 delayed everything.

Anyway, proud pre-purchaser of the Albatros.

Will it be possible to switch between front and back seat via key (like in Huey or Hip) or do you need to get back into the lobby?

Really looking forward to the stream focussing on this at the weekend. Usually I'd have ordered as soon as I saw the FB post, but I'm all out of space on my SSD. Haven't even installed the 109 or SU-27 campaign yet. I'm waiting for DCS2 and then I'm going to add a 1tb Samsung evo just for DCS and start fresh. I'll just have to miss out on this one for a while unless DCS2 launches with it...

Wow this is great news, two L-39 variants along with the new rendering system in September, I was kinda wishing I could pre-order it through steam and take advantage of the discount like some of the other fellas here. I'm guessing that won't be possible though?

I just have one question... i've got $40 of game bonuses built up.. but i never seem to be able to use it to buy any modules.. even with the albatross it's saying I can't use any of it, that doesn't seem exactly right? whats the point in having a bonus if you can't use it?

I guess it's because it's on pre-order bonus price currently. I think you'll be able to us it when it gets back to the full $49.99 release price.

I think you can only use it on full priced modules, the L-39 is currently discounted and so is disqualified.

Thing Is tho I buy everything Pre-order... Guess i'm a victim of my own obsession lol

About a month to wait though. That's bearable. If you got $40USD in bonus I think you deserve a -80% on the L-39 module.
