Sighhhh. So coretex is further along than ED is with the Hornet?

The Community: "ED please tell us something"

ED: Provides update

The Community: "This sucks, that sucks, yuck, cry, complain, etc"

Wash, rinse, repeat every time ED, a partner, or a 3rd party supplies an update. I for one and happy with this one.

Only question I have is so ED is working on an L-39 in addition to the Virtual Patriots working on one? If that is the case I am curious how DCS World will identify the difference between the two.

Edit...answered on page 1 or 2

a question.... L-39 Patriot team has moved into Eagle Dynamics? or have other apart project?

This is ED's project, so separate....

I think it's the other way around. It was going to be 1.3.0 but now it is 2.0.

The next iteration of DCS World (formerly 1.3.0) is currently in internal testing and will be available as a free download later in 2014.

Getting more confused... I thought Nevada was the first EDGE 2.0 map. How can 2.0 be released before Nevada? How can you release EDGE before you release an edge-based map. I don't get it...:helpsmilie:

The new Hornet map is a surprise. There's a lot of good stuff in the future, it just needs to get here. The possibilities with EDGE alone are huge.

NTTR should still be the first map released, EDGE needs to be in place before you release the new maps, the original map will benefit some from EDGE, but not as much as the ones built for EDGE.

The old Georgia map will make use of EDGE as well. While all the textures and buildings will look largely the same, we'll see improved lighting, shadows, water effects, performance, depth of field, etc.

"DCS: UH-1H Huey: $49.99 to $14.99 (70% off)"

I'm trying to buy the Huey but it shows it listed at $24.99. Is it $15 or $25?

EDIT: In the September Newsletter is says this: "DCS: UH-1H Huey: $49.99 to $24.99 (60% off)"

$50 to $25 is 50%, not 60%. This is a little confusing.

EDIT 2: On the front page is shows it at $19.99.

huh?

I was seriously considering calling it quits, but after this UPDATE I am bullsh*t excited. It might a massive (and erroneous) assumption, but if ED are deferring work on the Normandy map (which already have a number of assets and modules, and we saw the early map builds last year) for the hornet map, it might be fair to say that it is much closer than those cockpit pics would otherwise suggest. Besides its the systems and not the cockpit model which are the greatest amount of work.

BEST. UPDATE. EVER.

Turns out Georgia is the first EDGE map.

EDGE is the Graphics Engine, Caucaus doesnt use the Advanced Features of EDGE, Such as Clip Mapping that enable higher resolution elevation and terrain meshes.

NTTR is the First Map built for EDGE.

When I finish University in 2016, I'm going to be coming back to a DCS that makes the current version look like an indie game in comparison, and that excites me. Tons of aircraft from every era and four or more theatres to fly them in. Great update guys.

I wish Steam versions would have a sale at the same time as the Eagle store. I really prefer Steam to deliver my DCS as then its always up to date for the rare times that I do get to play it (Rather than having to wait 2 hours for DCS update then all my gaming time is gone!)
