I suppose you closed this box after a mission was generated (even if you have to wait a long time) ?

I frankly don't know if a mission was generated within game, but yes.

Obviously the DOS box is the important thing to use. (y --> enter)

BUT - should I accept or cancel the mission from within DCS itself? Does that have an affect on the outcome?

I don't know if I'm mucking up here. (I've found out you do indeed End Mission)!

 

Is the nomal DCS campaign "active" with the good number of missions done ?

I don't know what this means.

The stats when I enter the campaign is definately counting my missions, kills etc. It also seems to be tracking the READY number of planes etc..

It's just that no ground unit deaths are being carried over to the next mission.

 

I did ONCE see the airbase with destroyed buildings, but there's something I'm doing wrong that's not getting the map saving to the next sortie. All other missions I see a complete airbase. Again, I have completed loads of these, and only once have I seen a damaged airfield.

 

The only missions I get are either CAS (to take out an EWRradar which I've done at least 5 times) or Ground attack to take out airfield buildings.

 

You mean that the next mission you played was without a plane for you ?

Yes. If I were to start this mission I would see the tanker and AWACS in the air.

I'm obviously being a complete doofus here, and REALLY appreciate the hard work of everyone trying to make the World of DCS more alive.

 

I'm off to start a new campaign to see if things change.

EDIT:

It's really bugging me now!

Completed the first mission - took out the EWR.

Next mission = Sweep with a load of F-4s. Nice. Took out 6 Migs but the next mission was to take out the EWR that I had already taken out. Are there reserves coming in? If so, fine. But.....

 

Edit 2:

Right. After writing the above, I copied the entire campaign folder from the backup I took - back to after the successful first mission.

 

The initial campaign page says I have flown TWO missions, which is wrong - as that folder only had 1 mission flown. It is showing the 5 Migs I took out in the sweep mission prior. (yeah yeah - I lied in the first edit. A fighter pilot IS supposed to embellish the facts isn't he)?!

 

HOWEVER - it does load the F-4 Mission and sweep like it should, and shows the lack of EWR on the map.

There must be a traking file not saving somewhere on my computer........

Well after a mission you must write Y and press Enter in the dos box and wait for the next mission to be generated. You should have this kind of message (this one is for a new campaign generation but it's nearly the same for a next mission) : After that you hit any key to close the box...

Yes I get that (although that one is for the new first mission isn't it).

 

It's really bizare, as everything worked after the first mission, and then after the second it hasn't tracked.

 

I have altered the ATO to force flights to take off hot, as opposed to cold start. I don't think that should affect the campaign saving should it......

I'm only logging this just in case it could be helpful.

Normally my campaign folder looks like one of these two:

Note the file GCIdata.

 

Once in a blue moon, after skipping mission I get this:

Many more files.

This particular folder has given me a working mission.

Ok so I discovered that while playing the F18 DCE hornet over Caucasus in multiplayer, the communication menu appears but when I try to contact ATC, AWACS, Tankers,ETC nothing happens. I bring up the menu and select AWACS bogey dope but my pilot says nothing and I can't hear anything from AWACS or ATC. I have made sure that I am using the radio correctly but it also appears this problem extends to other DCE while in multiplayer as I don't get this error when I play the campaign in single player.....Any help would be appreciated because I really need to hit a tanker on the way back from a strike.

It's a known bug in multiplayer with DCE. I'm afraid you will have to edit the mission to be flown to put the briefing frequencies for IA wingmen, Tankers and AWACS ... it seems to works after that :thumbup: (I'm not playing multiplayer anymore :( )

Yes it seems good to me too :)

So look at the camp.ini.lua file in the init folder ( not sure of the exact name because I m away from home )and verify the exact structure in this file ...

Do the same for the camp.ini in the campaign folder...

I was actually just about to ask how carriers could be defined as bases as they have no airdromeID. Instead they have a helipadID and are referenced as "linkUnit" in landing waypoints for aircraft.

It seems this requires a lot of tweaking in the DCE code to adjust for that?

 

 

Edit: Disregard, I made it work by myself. It wasn't as difficult as I first thought.

After the F/A-18C bug solved using playable F/A-18C Lot 20 I have a ploblem with AV-8B NA on the Tarawa. I used you ATO_FlightPlan.lua and planes appear well on the deck but when I ask for Engine Startup my wingman begins to move and rams me :( . If I don't ask ATC wingman don't move anymore.

 

Any idea ?

Having trouble over here, (made a custom edit of oob and targets)

the only missions that work are Fighter Sweep and Intercept, never get any Strike missions, and by extension Escort.

 

Edit : Getting "Player aircraft type cannot operate at this time of day." (day and night) when I change player plane to one of the strike plane (Su-25), even tho all loadouts can operate at day.

Still I do not have this problem with the original plane of my campaign the F-5.

 

EDIT 2 : NEVERMIND! Fixed it, apparently I was using a depreciated loadout_db template for my strikers which had description = {} in it and it messed things up, all is good now.

In case someone get a problem with the Debrief windows opening and closing without give a yes/no choice to continue AND get this error :

... when they run the DEBUG_DebriefMission.bat, make sure you double check your targetlist_init and that every name is correct and not duplicates. What happen if you have a duplicate name somewhere is that the unit will not get a value called dead_last and thus returns an error.

Is it possible to get labels on these campaigns???

By labels you mean the ones that shows aircraft and the such in the air? If yes, then it is an option you can toggle in the game settings.

Edit : By the way I'm working on a Caucasus spanning campaign for the F-18 (probably will do a bunch of copy/paste for other planes), not sure if the performance will allow it but who knows :P

ALSO, question, what exactly represents the Fuel part of an aircraft's loadout? Lbs? Kgs? Range?

Edit 2 : Also I'm trying to track down the ATO_Timing line 11 bug that creeps around sometimes. When it happens (on my end) it seems the ATO_Generator assigned the player's squadron multiple times, always labeled as Strike mission. In a certain instance it assigned my squadron to 4 strike missions, but it only contains 4 planes total.

Edit 3 : Have yet to fix the issue, however I managed to debug and find that some ATO flight sometimes returns nil, looks to be only Strike task. Seems like the Generator is stuburn and tries to assign the closest Strike flight continuously sometimes even tho there is no planes available. The usual culprit is an Su-25T squadron, will try to replace with another striker see if still happens.

Edit 4 : Ok, for some unknown reason, seems that if I change that particular Su-25T squadron to an Su-24M (with same capability in loadout, and settings of squadron) it stop going bad (BUT, the squadron basicaly never do a single sortie when it is Su-24M). The other Su-25T squadrons are behaving. And when I put it back in it's place, it bugs out again, but sometimes it doesn't. Also looks like it happens to bug especially during large scale operation. Happens from Maykop. I'm confused...

Edit 5 :Dug deeper into debuging (learning quite a bit of lua in the process lol) and it seems that it is triggered by one of my EWR site (at least for the blufor Su-25). Gonna look into it.

Edit 6 :Might have found a work around for now (still not quite sure), I changed line 776 of Scripts\ATO_Generator.lua from "break" to "assigned = 1".

Edit 7 : Work around makes the mission generation work but looks like the squadron that would've bugged end up with no ground target, only navigation to and back (Unless the Tornado is bugged?).

Hello,

Making campaign for Mig-21 using Caucasus and cannot get interception missions to work for player. Generation is always stopped with nil lua error.

 

 

After some fiddling I think there is error in code that prevents interceptions for player to work.

 

 

I used Eagle over Caucasus-v2.5-2.zip as base for my campaingn and here in file ATO_PlayerAssign.lua line 143 is:

 

leg_speed = pack.main[1].loadout.description.vCruise

 

and here script error occurs because description is nil - I think it is left over when format was changed and this was not updated. After I changed all (of course all other ocurences as well)loadout.description.vCruise to loadout.vCruise it passed and next crash was in ATO_FlightPlan.lua line 897:

 

--store player waypoints for briefing creation

if flight[f].player == true then

camp.player.waypoints = deepcopy(waypoints)

camp.player.waypoints[2].speed = 0

camp.player.waypoints[2].alt = 0

camp.player.waypoints[3].speed = pack[p].main[1].loadout.vCruise / 4 * 3

Of course camp.player.waypoints[2].speed = 0 must fail on nil cos interception flight has only one waypoint.

 

Deleted code bellow camp.player.waypoints = deepcopy(waypoints) and it passed and mission was generated.

 

Compared to older code base used in Operation Red Bear and that waypoint manipulation code is not there.

 

 

Please anyone know whats going on here and what that waypoint code is supposed to do? I am stuck on my campaign creation cos of this.

Mission script error attempt to index local logfile (a nil value)

 

Hey guys,

I tried the Fulcrum over PG campaign and I got this mission script error about a logFile after the first mission. It happens every time. I haven't tried other DCE campaigns lately but this didn't happen in the past with others.

I’m really interested by your work to be able to generate intercept missions for players. I was always obliged to forbid this mission to avoid errors.

Did you finally find the solution ?

If you do so can you please describe what I have to change or better solution : please share the modified files
