Hi CEF, for the mission, do you recommend using the default load? There are some strike mission for hornet woth bombs of mk82, which need ccip, but when I try to dive and bomb the target, there are so many sam 8 attack me, and also it is very easy to loose the ai wing man there.

Well, I suppose you are playing a crisis or Over PG campaign because in TF and Over Caucasus I removed those weapons because danger is too high... In PG it can be used better. I often change my own payload  to help my wingmen to attack the target : I take Harm or Mavericks with Pod to try to remove the mighty Sa-8 when I'm able to find it. Feel free to use weapons you like... I try to not use too modern weapons in PG : AIM-120B instead of C and no JSAW but it's your choice 😉

Oh, thanks a lot. by the way when I playing crisis of PG, when I choose the strike mission of "scud" I alway stuck on loading screen, without the loading bar, then I need to force quit and skip that mission. All other missions works fine.

Can you please try to attach this kind of mission to this post so that we are able to look at it and the DCS.log file when it bugs you will find here F:\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Logs

Hes right, I got Scud 2 strike mission, briefing picture 2 had missing texture, when I started it did infinite loading screen, so never made it to engine init. I tried skip mission and I got Scud 2 strike again, tried all the same again, infinite load, skipped again.

 

I just got to Scud 3 escort mission this morning. Missing texture in brief, infinite load. Same as Scud 2.

Could you provide the mission that is causing the problem?
 If you have already generated a new mission, the old one may be in this folder

In case you're tired of getting shot down by SAMs and unable to kill them with HARMs due to how Mbot wrote his ARM_Defence_Script, here's what I just discovered to be very effective during the (currently very annoying) Afghan Bear Trap - Viper campaign:

  • load 1 or 2 HARMs, and some CBU-97 or other cluster bombs
  • Make sure you have a waypoint where the SAM you want to take out is
  • When you are LESS than 2 minutes from the target, lock up the SAM with the HARM and fire it.
  • You now have between 2 and 4 minutes to drop the cluster bombs on the SAM without being fired at and run away

This works because of the way ARM_Defence_Script is written: at the moment there is a 90% chance of your HARM being detected on launch, when this happens the SAM will be turned off for a random time between 2 and 4 minutes. This is your window to kill the fuckers without being shot at.

 

In the last mission I had 2 SAMs nearby, so I had to shoot both HARMs I had at them in close succession to shut them up when I was 1min30 from the closest SAM. Then I could take out the closest one with the CBU-97. Then I RTB'd, reloaded, and went back to kill the other fucker with the same technique. They were SA-15 and SA-11. It will work with other SAMs too, as long as you can get to within 2 minutes from them without being shot down.

 

Or you could just change the line if "math.random(1,10) > 1 then" to something less annoying like "if math.random(1,10) > 8 then" in ARM_Defence_Script so there is just a 20% chance of your HARM being detected on launch. Some call it cheating, I say it's an option

It’s the difference between SEAD (suppression) and DEAD (destruction) …😉

DCS is not able to simulate correctly Radar operators not wanting to die …that’s why Mbot used this script … you can change suppression timing too. But if course you can do as you like : I really like the cat mouse game with SAMs playing with suppression timing to try to help my Strikers ;)

I see it quite simply as "you wanna live? Then don't shoot at me. You shoot? Then you die". And I really like it that with dce the next time I'm gonna fly over that place I can just go about my business 😊

For sure but in real world it's not so easy 😉 in Bosnia most of Serbian SAMs were suppressed but not destroyed being always a potential threat to NATO Air Force ...
