How do you reach it?
FLIR on, HUD in NIGHT mode, Sensor Select Switch depress.

the lighting in the Harrier is terrible, it's useless to try and use the moving map @ night, it's blinding, at least implement working contrast and dimming controls, putting the MPCDs in night mode makes it even worse, it's like opposite day

And I will execute vengeance in anger and fury upon the heathen, such as they have not heard.

You are on stable or OpenBeta? ...tried yesterday with the new FLIR and it was pretty much ok...ish in NIGHT setting (not very readable, but the glow is nearly gone). Though I agree a working Brightness dial would be nice.

:D Yes I know it. I'm asking about the picture and the levels of gain and brightness. I can't obtain some similar.
I can only get automatic gain to work, Black Hot mode and it is usable. Seems MAN, with gain and level is not implemented (yet).

I noticed the different (much darker) map in the screenshot compared to the current OpenBeta. Seems they internally have adjusted already...

looking forward to the next update.

With EDs new lighting Razbam can now progress with the night lighting, it seems.

I don't want to start any fight :) , but I would say that Harrier is quite usable for night operations in current OB. See the screenshots below please.

Yep, only thing is to adjust everything correct. Night mode, Brightness knob adjusts SYMBOLOGY(!), MAP adjustment with GAIN/CONTRAST switches (LMB/RMB multiple clicks.) Took me a moment to figure out.

NAVFLIR is now much better aligned with ground/objects in HUD, really nice in twilight, as well. Buildings, powerlines, trees, lakes etc. all very visible in White Hot.

Thanks Razbam, this is coming along nicelay with the new 2.5.6 lighting. :cheer3nc:

You can adjust the map quite nicely, now. Just lower GAIN and adjust CONTRAST. Only thing is the NVG brightness adjustment (needs to be assigned to keys) could have more range for reducing gain. It's still very bright in twilight. Overall this is a massive(!) improvement!

Yes, Razbam is walking to the right sense. But still a long way to reach the goal. You can adjust some parameters but it's not ideal. Why do the sea or the sky blind you in the hud? Now it is usefull but not optimal at all. We have to wait.

Because, well realism? You definitely are blinded when you look into the sun ...or at the sun reflecting of the waves/water. I mean just go outside and try to look into the sun without a special safety, it will even permanently blind you. :dunno:

all displays at default settings. if only looking at the ground, it is better. but beware if you ever catch a glimpse of the sky or worse, the boiling water of the gulf ...

It's a DCS issue, F/A-18C night ops. and trying to VID a locked target with the TGP FLIR is also blinding, we need to *hope* ED fix the issue with their new FLIR render.

Looks exactly like my screen except you can actually make out some of the text on the HUD. I can turn down all the setting on the MFDs and HUD making it somewhat readable in a very dark room. Also have to mess with my graphic card and monitor settings but then I have to redo all the settings again for day ops. It is not worth the effort on top of all the other non-functional systems and bugs. Hopefully the influx of money on the upcoming Falklands map, Mig-23, and F-15E will allow them to fund fixes in this module and get it out of Early Alpha state.
