Question do you have to run the cable to the hms or is it only for charging Yeah, the HMS requires a 5v power supply so it needs to be attached permanently. Just run it down the same cable as the the HMD one with the supplied cable ties. The charger for the FCU’s is separate. FireCat
I'm now using PointCTRL with HP Reverb and it works without any changes or recalibration. Just want to share it with other Reverb users who wants to buy PointCTRL. I enjoy it every flight. That's good to hear I've been looking at the Reverb the reviews regarding clarity are very good but also the comfort and weight of the headset which is also big on my shopping list. How do you find the god ray effect? God ray actually bothers me more than the screen door effect and I hated the ring effect the Vive produced compared to the Oculus. I have a Pimax 5K which has the ring effect but it's hardly noticeable so I can live with it but for me comfort wise the Pimax is not that good I've generally had enough after a couple of hours whereas with the Oculus, I could keep it on for 6 hours without even noticing it and the Reverb looks to be modelled very similarly to the Oculus. kaltokri
How do you find the god ray effect? ... the Reverb looks to be modelled very similarly to the Oculus. God Rays in Reverb are the same as in my Rift S. Rift S is a little more comfortable compared to Reverb, because of the face padding. I'll try to find a replacement soon. But Reverb seem to have a lower weight. Yes, Reverb is very similar to Rift. But I like the helo ring of Rift S a little bit more. Sorry, for off topic. But I want to answer him. MilesD
I'm now using PointCTRL with HP Reverb and it works without any changes or recalibration. Just want to share it with other Reverb users who wants to buy PointCTRL. I enjoy it every flight. Interesting that you didn't have to re-calibrate. I would expect that the cursor box would be to small, and cut off the cursor before its out of your FOV. I would also expect that you can't move the cursor down as far vertically. I think you would get a better experience if you expanded your cursor box and targets and re-calibrated. Just remember the major reasons for a bad calibration. Problem: FCU led is timed out, and off when accepting cursor alignment. Solution: Be sure to press the rear FCU button to activate the IR LED before pressing the forward button to accept the cursor alignment. Problem: The opposite hands FCU you are not using IR LED is on, and being tracked when accepting cursor alignment. Solution: Be sure the other FCU is out of the HMSs field of view before pressing the forward button to accept the cursor alignment. Its good practice to move your opposite hand down below your thigh to block the IR LED. Problem: IR interference. Solution: Be sure to conduct an IR room survey and occlude or eliminate any IR sources that you may encounter as you look in all directions. To survey the room, you don't have to look at the LED on the HMS, you can just see if your cursor moves as you rotate the VR headset around the room. Hope that Helps, I will post this over in the Discord also. But I want to answer him. Love my Reverb. Upgrade from CV1. One man's opinion. Thank you both for your help and input the Reverb is looking more and more like the one for me. I have watched many YouTube reviews on the main contenders and the Index was looking good as I have 2 vive lighthouses and the Index controllers already so I only need the headset. Then I came across 2 different reviews a guy in the US and another in European who both said the same, that the ringed god ray effect in the Index was actually a little worse than the original Vive. That for me took the Index out of the game. So it looks like the Reverb, who knows with Black Friday around the corner could I possibly hope for a little price drop. Again thanks FireCat. MilesD
Woohoo I know what I am doing this weekend Looks like it was delivered early, Good Luck! It also looks like a few of you got yours today, I will have my discord on speaker, just yell my name and I should hear you if you need any assistance. I really do enjoy helping out others getting their PointCTRL sorted, and working properly, so please don't hesitate to ask for help. The most rewarding part of this whole endeavor is when I think I had a little piece in making those that trusted in me recreational time a bit more enjoyable. Conversely, I know PointCTRL can initially be a challenge to set-up, and I worry some of you may have become frustrated and are not using it. So please reach out on discord, or here if you need assistance. Your certainly not bothering me, besides Deano, FireCat, or Clutter usually beat me to helping someone out. Thanks again, Miles Edited November 17, 2019 by MilesD Now shipping up to website Pre-Order Form date 2022/06/01 Pre-Order Form Submission https://pointctrl.com/preorder-form/ PointCTRL Support Discord https://discord.gg/jH5FktJ PintCTRL Website https://pointctrl.com/
