It was one of the biggest flaws in 1.5 and below, that the forests were spread only very sporadically. One small dab here, one small blob there. But the real caucasus has forests, which cover very huges parts of this area. The latest screenshots, including this one, show that this is gonna be changed, which is really cool :)

I would like to know, if the subversions 2.2, 2.3 and 2.4 will be released before 2.5 will approach or will ED skip some of these subversions?

It's possible some could be skipped, its just dependant on timing...

maybe because of FPS issues and new theatres of war(Desert)

so, hows the FPS drop/rise with the new Engine on non-NASA-mainframe Computers? Thats the thing i am most interrested in, because all fancy grafics are worthless if you cant get stable 60fps

2x90fps here

My senses predict the new caucasus will be added eventually to alpha version 2.4. which will turn into 2.5 beta and stable later.

Now I just wish my predictions were ever at all accurate :D

Looking back at how big a change it was from 1.2 to 1.5 (which I know I have forgotten about) and now looking at the Gigantic! change we have been teased about... to me the New Caucasus will be a turning point... 1.5 was "just" an update. But this. I feel the new Caucasus will genuinely feel like a brand new map altogether.

Sure the locales are old and the airfields.... but now they actually look like real places instead of some mishmash of 2D-trees and a landscape from 2005.

I think (and hope) that the merge will breathe new life into the sim and hopefully brings a bunch of new people to it as well. For after the merge, stable doesn't feel like a "free demo", but a complete, cutting edge sim.

Nice.

The work being done really makes Caucasus feel like a new terrain, I could forget I have spent years flying around it.

Yes indeed! Combined Arms should see a lot more action with this wonderful update. I believe the sales for that module will definitely pick up!
