New 49" Samsung Gaming Monitor

Recommended Posts

Nice, but very expensive compared to similar 4K HDTV options.

what I was thinking too. Nice looking monitor. I would probably pay 1/2 that price for it.

TVs generally have a lot slower processors, and you get a huge delay between when you press a button and the screen actually showing it... your average PC monitor has around a 4ms delay, your average TV has between a 20 and 50ms delay

+1....actually plus 1k !!!

Input lag is your worst enemy in DCS, racing sims, FPS etc.

Come and play at 144Hz Gsynced and then move back to the TV, you will feel like set back to stoneage, hands down.

TV's use a variety of embedded chips to enhance the picture quality, thus the signal gets delayed by a few ms within every chip. To correct this issue ( which is no issue if you watch a DVD or TV etc.. ) most TV's feature a GAME MODE. What this is is pretty simple, it TURNS OFF all those chips and bypasses those circuits to save those few milliseconds.

I have a TV, played on it a few weeks and NAAAHH what a BS !! Like Day & Night compared to my Gsync 144Hz screen with 1ms GTG.

With good systems and fast FPS you can get a frametime around 7ms. If your TV has a higher input lag then your frametime then....HELLO UGLY GAMEPLAY. You always have a delay into the next frame..hmmmm that is ok for round based games or Desktop usage but not for fast pace games.

If that TV is "made" for gaming, then it should have very little GTG response time, no lag on its circuit board due to useless chips etc..

*edit: followed the link: 144Hz, yes..but still...I would not buy a TV for gaming unless I had tested it 1st hand. For that much money you can buy an Asus 4K Gsync HDR screen, curved...anything.

TV's are great for consol gaming and that is about it. As mentioned earlier response times on TV's suck. If they were so great then we all would have gone out and bought a 40 to 50" TV to flight sim on.

My Sony BRAVIA does a half decent job in sim with it's built in Motionflow 200Hz

Still no where near my ASUS 144Hz 1ms.

Does any 4K HDTV have a 32:9 aspect ratio or even 21:9?

Wouldn't 32:9 be the least one wants for DCS ?

I can see the benefit for DiRT4 or F1-2016 but not for "us" who need to look down at the gauges and outside !?

I would even prefer a 4:3 ratio of my screen just for the gauges, like 2560x1920.

But hey, we are a colourful bunch and taste does differ

32:9? Good for cars racing but not for flight sim when the vertical view is what you need.

I have been saying that about UW monitors since they first came out.

Pre ordered already. Expected June 20th. This definition and ratio totally make sense for simulation. I have been flying 3840x1080 on triple screen for years. Of course, I am using a 4th screen for the panel otherwise, indeed you would have to choose between looking outside and looking at your instruments.

I'm very interested in your experiences with this 49" monitor, please keep us informed

Interesting setup indeed !

I assume the 4th screen down low is also not of the smallest resolution, so may I ask what GPU you are using to drive all those panels on ?

I thought about Multi Monitor too but I neither have the space for 3 x 27" nor do I think I would like it. Never liked two screens for the PC either. VR will fit into my space and may be my next "monitor" choice for DCS once they as well as GPUs have matured a bit further.

Still, I guess its a blast with 3 x 4k :pilotfly:

Right now I am flying this:

Pitlan1.JPG

You can easily imagine the three center screens will be replaced by the 49 inches. The instrument panels are using Helios. So there no need to generate a picture here (except for some displays, but it is limited), it's very light on the CPU/GPU. All the current screens are touch screens. With the 49', I will move the remaining screens for Helios. I am thinking two at the bottom, one for the overhead and one for the pedestal on the left. I am still not sure how I will do that though. :|

Hi all

Just read an interesting article about an upcomming new huge 49" QLED HDR 144 Hz Gaming Monitor from Samsung with FreeSync 2:

http://www.144hzmonitors.com/reviews/samsung-c49hg90-review-c27hg70-c32hg70/

What do you think about it?

Cheers

Weasel

I'm inclined to order the C32HG70 as soon it is available at the Iberian shops.

Considering I'm currently stuck with a 22", it's easy to see this will be a big change  : http://www.displaywars.com/22-inch-16x10-vs-31,5-inch-16x9

My main issue is with that 1800R curvature. Won't it be too much for other stuff, besides DCS?

That is one nice big monitor! I would definitely consider it if they make a G-Sync version.

I would still prefer my 40" 4k @16:9, which is also a monitor, not a TV.
