71st_AH Rob
I don't think that it is just a small chapel but using the Citroën parked beside it for scale, only children or very short people could get in. Although, if the Panther is in scale with the terrain those are the largest passenger cars Citroën ever produced. I think these are fairly early in development and we need to wait to see them closer to release. The grass is looking good and appears deformed in front of the Panther and some marks behind...and I think the point of this image was to be the grass. Patersonski
OK, these pictures-screenshoots are beautiful, but I would like to see the damage model - screenshoots of devastated city after bombing. How does it look ruined city and ground? And add a bad weather, dark clouds and little rain, to see how it looks when the weather's isn't nice. I was thinking the same thing. I love and have pre-purchased the map, but every time I see screen shots or video I don't think 'OMG Nazi occupied Europe', I think 'boy that would be a nice place for a bicycle ride and a picnic'. Or did the Nazis implement a strict Rural Beautification Program I wasn't aware of? Did the Nazis mandate banners on significant buildings with the swastika on it? If so, maybe subtle little touches like that could be added to remind us that back then the bad guys were in charge. 1 Rig: i7-6850K, Sapphire 6900XT, 32GB RAM, Asus X99-Pro board. Captain Orso
No, he added a new screenshot, its matter of angles the original screenshot was taken at. Its why its best to just wait until you can get in there and look at it... The guy near the door makes the perspective look okay. But the car looks huge, like one of those old London taxis, only bigger. I looks to be taller than the soldier. When you hit the wrong button on take-off System Specs. VincentLaw
No, he added a new screenshot, its matter of angles the original screenshot was taken at. Its why its best to just wait until you can get in there and look at it... To the contrary, it may save many hours of future work fixing object placement errors if the problem is identified early. I did some more in-depth research below to identify roughly the correct height of this specific church. Hopefully this information will be helpful to ED. The church ED modeled for Normandy is a real church in the commune of Longues-sur-Mer named "Église Saint-Laurent de Longues-sur-Mer". It is located at 49°20'06.9"N 0°41'59.9"W I used the 3D measure tool in Google Earth Pro to measure the approximate height of the stone part of the steeple (since this part is easier to measure) As seen below: From here I used a reference photo to approximate the height to the peak of the roof. (yes, this second part will have a little perspective error, so it may be ~0.1 m taller in reality) So the church is roughly 18.1 meters tall, and it is easily the tallest building in its neighborhood. For comparison, one of the 2 story buildings near the church only measures 8.2 meters tall from the ground to the peak of the roof, so it should not appear small in comparison to the neighboring houses. as it does in this picture: https://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=159793&d=1490634574 I can't say for sure if the scale is correct or not in DCS, but this height estimate should give the 3D modeler a chance to review the dimensions. ED Team NineLine Posted March 28, 2017 ED Team Share Posted March 28, 2017 While I am sure that church was used for reference, its placement, location and size down to the centimeter surely isnt meant to be spot on... The size is fine. The cars have already been reported for the size being too large. As with the NTTR map, buildings will not match spot on to what was actually there, but are instead meant to give that overall feel of the area. I would not be surprised to see that church repeated a number of times over the map. Gunny Highway
Question: Could the size of the cars be too large because the church is too small? Given the size of the other buildings in that one screenshot, the only thing out of proportion appears to be the church. Given the assumption that said church will be used across the map, seems like it would make sense to increase its size to make it look more natural. This is meant to be a small church, I am assuming there will be larger churches that look different. If you look at the screenshot with the soldier, the church is actually fine, just small. Vitormouraa
Honestly I don't mind having a church too small or a car a bit big, but if it's going to be fixed, that's cool. nrgized
Normandy has tons of grass and it looks nice... How does the grass hold up in VR? The current grass isn't viable in VR with all its artifacts from transparency. Would be a shame to have to continue with grass off. Does that also include the right to publish pre-release videos and screenshots of their product on a map that's published by ED? Besides, I don't really see the benefit of posting WIP footage from a WIP environment, other than demonstrating "it's possible". :music_whistling:

OnlyforDCS
Well let me be the first to comment on Wagg's nice little Normandy/Su25 video teaser. :) Gotta take note of three things I noticed: 1) The nice white "haze" over the horizon. I think this is the first time I've seen that kind of weather in DCS World. I might be wrong, I haven't flown Nevada in quite a while and it could be present there, but I gotta say it looks awesome. 2) New smoke effects & explosions? Not sure about the explosions but the smoke effects definitely look different from what we have in the sim now. Very cool. 3) Better visibility? Not sure how to put it but it looks like Impostors or something like them is back in the game. I hope Im not just imagining things on my end! Oh man, I sure hope not :) Discuss! :D Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals. If you watch from 7:40 at 11 o'c'lock you can see the 'models' popping in and out. They still need to tidy up that transition and maintain the model visibility right down to dot. I suspect if the distance had gradually increased the model would still have gone: Now you see it; Now you don't; Dot. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3100643#post3100643 klem 56 RAF 'Firebirds' ASUS ROG Strix Z390-F mobo, i7 8086A @ 5.0 GHz with Corsair H115i watercooling, Gigabyte 2080Ti GAMING OC 11Gb GPU , 32Gb DDR4 RAM, 500Gb and 256Gb SSD SATA III 6Gb/s + 2TB , Pimax 8k Plus VR, TM Warthog Throttle, TM F18 Grip on Virpil WarBRD base, Windows 10 Home 64bit
