Magic Zach
Last I checked (been a month) the B-17G has an extremely rudimentary damage model. A good one for it is still WIP, afaik. In short, no. No they do not...yet. You can't just damage an engine, you just kill it. And when you kill one engine, all 4 lock up. Wings snap off at one point. Right now, it's really just an ALL or NOTHING damage model. However, I haven't even seen one in a month, so maybe some updates to the damage model happened. I didn't see anything in the changelogs though. Or if there was, I missed them. 1 Hardware: T-50 Mongoose, VKB STECS, Saitek 3 Throttle Quadrant, Homemade 32-function Leo Bodnar Button Box, MFG Crosswind Pedals Oculus Rift S System Specs: MSI MPG X570 GAMING PLUS, RTX 3090, Ryzen 7 5800X3D, 32GB DDR4-3200, Samsung 860 EVO, Samsung 970 EVO 250GB Modules: AH-64D, Ka-50, Mi-8MTV2, F-16C, F-15E, F/A-18C, F-14B, F-5E, P-51D, Spitfire Mk LF Mk. They made for nice eye candy to begin with, but don't add value to the environment in their current state beyond that. Magic Zach
Last time I even saw one, it was only a little after they made gunners work (to a point). When I learned that the gunners were working, I made some mission with 190s attacking them. The gunners with two barrels (tail and top gunner) would only have one barrel fire, instead of both! And it was the right barrel. Has that been fixed? Captain Orso
Nobody has the advanced DM of yet. I'm sure ED will make it widely know when they do, as it is a major project at the moment. IIRC they will be rolling the new DM out simultaneously on all airframes, which only makes sense. When you hit the wrong button on take-off System Specs. Magic Zach
We're talking the bombers, currently just the B17G. Not the playable aircraft. I don't think unplayable aircraft will get as advanced of a DM as playable aircraft will, so I assume DMs for the WWII Assets and playable aircraft are separate projects. That is, unless you have heard otherwise from ED, Orso. Though, Captain Orso is correct. It would be unfair to some if new DMs were given one aircraft at a time. Captain Orso
Ummm.... I believe ALL AC, including the AI-only AC, will be getting the new DM-Treatment™. Anything else would make little sense. Magic Zach
Eh. Yes and no, but we'll see in the future. I really don't think that the WWII-assets aircraft will get this damage model system, or At least not immediately. It would probably come to the playable aircraft, then be introduced to WWII Assets some 8 or 9 months later! But again, all we can do is sit tight, grab a Twix and keep our ears open for news. Because when ED announces specifics or even gives (more) screenshots, word will spread like wildfire. Captain Orso
welllll... let's see... we have the 4 officially and beta released warbirds which will definitely get the new DM. Then there's the B-17G, and we've already seen pics of the WIP 3D model of the Ju-88, and then there's the... the... um... the... oh wait, the P-40E and the P-47D, and then... um... ummmmmmmm....... nothing else that I can think of having been announced, AI AC or otherwise  So (and I'm not trying to belittle ED's efforts in the least - quite to the contrary) I don't see the task being super-human to release ALL available modules and AI AC all in one wash. Certainly there's a lot of work to do in advance, but we all know the amazing work ED's eager little gremlins can do given enough time :D When you hit the wrong button on take-off System Specs. Magic Zach
Any screenshots of the WIP damage model, OTHER than the two of the Spit in the ModelViewer? Will the damage model give better visuals?
