Perhaps it would help if the developers would know which aircraft their customers would want the most. Luthier has already said that they are considering making changes to satisfy demand and very obviously they are listening to us. Instead of scattered opinions, let's give them some numbers to crunch.

Vote for the aircraft you would want to fly the most of those listed in Kickstarter (not including ED's planes). Then list them in a descending order in this thread.

Please don't ask here for any aircraft not listed by RRG because they have chosen them according to the documentation available for making a DCS level simulation.

I can only list 10 in a poll so I'll leave the Me 410 A and Ju-88 out from it but let's include them in our list.

My list would be:

1. Me 262A-1

2. Bf-109K-4

3. Spitfire Mk IX

4. Hawker Typhoon IB

5. A-26B-15

6. FW.190A-5

7. Me 410 A

8. Ju-88

9. P-47D-28

10. Mosquito FB.VI

11. P-38J-15

12. B-17

Good initiative!

My ordered list:

1. Hawker Typhoon IB

2. FW.190A-5

3. A-26B-15

4. B-17

5. P-47D-28

6. Me 410 A

7. Mosquito FB.VI

8. P-38J-15

9. Ju-88

10. Bf-109K-4

11. Spitfire Mk IX

12. Me 262A-1

My reasons are many and involve how many times I have flown them in other sims, usefulness for the scenario/balance, gut feeling and sex appeal... ;)

EDIT - And we need an me but I never liked the K so that's why it's so low as I follow the thread rules ;)

1. Spitfire Mk IX (a lot of potential variety here; Mk IXs featured two different wings, different styles of rudders, elevators and sights--what are we going to get?)

2. Focke-Wulf FW-190A-5 (actually, this is a bit earlier model than I would prefer; an A-8 would be preferable)

3. P-47D-28 Thunderbolt (without a glass jaw DM, particularly in the engine compartment if you please)

4. Bf 109K-4 (with a promise of a more common G variant)

5. Typhoon Mk Ib (absolutely overdue in a WWII combat sim)

6. P-38J-15 Lightning (the Lightning's cockpit was considered an ergonomic nightmare; people will be rushing to directly assign buttons or axes to avoid a clickable 'pit setup once it shows up)

7. Mosquito FB VI (I am not a fan of multicrewed aircraft being modeled for single player simulations; in my opinion, these should require a co-op setup with players filling at least the two or three most important crew positions)

8. Boeing B-17F/G (see my above comment; the Fortress demanded two pilots and a couple of auxiliary crewmen just to get off the ground and find a target)

9. Douglas A-26B (a fine aircraft, but I just can't get excited about it; the B-26 Marauder would be ever so much better for a WWII sim)

All this said, I would happily forego the last four in exchange for a razorback Mustang...P-51B/Cs with Malcolm hoods and the ammo feed fixed were generally considered better than the D model, especially at altitude; the last of these were still flying in combat in December of '44 and their pilots didn't give them up without a lot of fuss.

cheers

I am a big fan of the B-17, I completely respect the men who flew them into war...

I enjoy flying the A2A B-17 and would be willing to spend too much money for a DCS version of the B-17.

Well picking only one plane in the poll is really hard. It's like the classic question my kids use to put - "Dad, if you had to choose one meal that you would have to eat for the rest of your life - what would it be?" :)

But having to pick one I might still go for the Typhoon... It's such a mean looking beast and I still have memories of reading Clostermann's memoirs where the Typhoon and particularly the Tempest are described as "beasts" with awesome power etc. And we have never had it in a real study sim (accept as a mod in 1946?)

Or the A-26... I was close to getting a ride in an A-26B once - and for the ones that has seen one flying it really has a sex appeal that few twin engined aircraft have. It just looks mean and it's so very obvious which end of if is the one you point at the enemy... :)

And of course the 109 that I put far down on my list as they are doing a K... I have a special relationship with the 109 as my mother and grandparents where strafed by a 109 (probably a G but it could of course have been a K) during the war in a boat while fleeing from Estonia to Sweden in late 1944. I still love it :) But the K feels like it's "too far" from the original 109. A rather early G would be nice - before they introduced cost cutting measures and too much bulbs etc. Saw the "Rote Sieben" (rebuilt Buchon to G4 specs) three weeks ago in Roskilde the day before it crashed. It's such an evil looking plane it the air and that DB605 sends chills far down the spine...

But choosing one is not easy :)

No surprises here; Germans first, then Mosquito and Thunderbolt (the latter has been growing on me).

1. Bf 109K-4

2. Me 262A-1

3. Fw 190A-5

4. Mosquito FB.VI

5. P-47D-28 Thunderbolt

6. P-38J-15 Lightning

7. B-17 Flying fortress ...

8. Spitfire Mk IX

9. Hawker Typhoon IB

10. A-26B-15 Invader (never heard of this one before; why not the B-25 Mitchell?)

Boy, that B-17 is shredded to pieces by the mighty Me 262!

P-38 first and foremost. The cockpit looks so badass! :D Even my HOTAS WH is a far stretch.

P-47 - such a fun plane to fly would like to experience more realistic model.

Spit IX & Tiffy.

Love the Spit in WT, even thru the cries of the mouse aimers (god forbid they find out what controlling an aircraft is really like, but they know all about balance!! Lol) Sitting in the cockpit feels like sitting in a sports car! Love it. Sounds mean as **** too!

Love the Tiff in WT as well - evenly with the Spit. Another cockpit I really enjoy. Once ya get going that sucker moves. The engine sounds beefy too! Especially @ lower RPM... Winding down! Sounds like a chain driven Supercharger, tho I haven't found anything stating the typhoon has one, so not sure what it is..

All the rest - ill be happy to see in game but will likely not spend much time with them. These 4 will be good enough for me :D

2. Focke-Wulf FW-190A-5 (actually, this is a bit earlier model than I would prefer; an A-8 would be preferable)

The A-5 was a far better dogfighter than the A-8 which many FW fliers will appreciate.

7. Mosquito FB VI (I am not a fan of multicrewed aircraft being modeled for single player simulations; in my opinion, these should require a co-op setup with players filling at least the two or three most important crew positions)

Mossy FB has only two seats the other being operated by the Navagator/radio operator.

9. Douglas A-26B (a fine aircraft, but I just can't get excited about it; the B-26 Marauder would be ever so much better for a WWII sim)

Agreed!

For what has been announced, my list goes like this-

1. Mosquito FB mk VI

2. Me-410A Hornesse

3.A-26B Invader

of course my real list goes like this-

1. F4U-1A/C/D

2. F4U-2

3. F4U-4

4. B-26 Marauder (all varients)

5. He-219A-7 Uhu

6. Hs-129B Panzerknacker

7. Mosquito FB mk VI

8. Me-410 (all varients)

9. Me-210A

10. Bf-110 (all varients)

11. FW-190 (all varients)

12. TBM-3 Avenger

13. SB2C Helldiver

14. PBY-5A Catalina

15. Ju-88 (all varients)

16. B-29A Superfortress

Hopefully in a few years I'll see them

wow, what a selection... this won't be easy.

I do have concerns about B17 lately, as I really want this, but I don't know if I will like it as with DCS this could be complex to use it won't be usable.

There is a point it has to be usable without a bazillion switches and super complexity - it's honestly why I don't fly DCS jets :)

I always enjoyed fighter-bombers and schnellbomber/sturmovik/close air supporters like P-47, Ju-87 or 88 and Il-2 aswell as carrier-fighters lik A6M or F6F (I know, west european theater but still...)

There will always be bugs. If everything is a priority nothing is.

I voted for the 109 simply because it is my all time favorite, but Im equally excited about the possibility of flying any of the first 8 aircraft on my list and would also love to man a gun on the Flying Fortress, ball turret anyone?:joystick:
