snak
I have just purchased the Spitfire. I have the TM warthog hotas which works fine on other aircraft but the aircraft wants to constantly roll to the left can I correct this with Trims?
razo+r
Yes, either trim the rudder or rudder yourself.
grafspee
You can correct it only for constant speed and power setting, if any of those things change re trimming would be required. Spitfire has elevator and rudder trim, any rolling tendencies in spitfire you are correcting with rudder trim. Nealius
Since no one else has mentioned the cause of the left roll: It's torque from the engine.
grafspee
Yes engine torque will yaw plane to the left and because plane is skidding different lift is generated on left and right wing creating this roll iirc, this is why you counter this with rudder trim not aileron trim. If you look carefully some planes has deflected vertical stab to counter this in cruise flight, but this has adverse effect in high speed dives where this non neutral incidence of vert stab forcing pilot to apply left rudder to maintain coordinated flight.
