What is the difference between the 'new' F-16C grip and the A-10C Warthog one?

Unless Thrustmaster make a definitive statement of changes, I'm assuming none.

I believe the real F16 grip doesn't have the depress option on the CMS. That is the only difference between the two.

I can't believe TM would design a whole new grip based on something they already have. They probably took the existing A10C grip and swapped out the CMS and called it an F16C grip.

I'd rather see them come out with another F16C throttle. I would buy that on day one.

Well, IRL there's another differrence: The real A-10C grip has no paddle switch ;)

Ok, 2 differences.

Also It's said to be a 1:1 replica. Don't know if it's the same size as the A10C grip then which would pretty much make my whole post useless. So, nevermind.

.

so if the only difference is lack of a button, why would people buy it?

No the Thrustmaster F-16C grip has the same amount of buttons (19) as the Warthog incl. the 5 way CMS hat. Yes, this is inaccurate for an F-16 stick. It seems to be exactly the same grip with a new name at double the price tag.

Yeah, they should have done a Cougar MkII. Many new customers would buy it and even some people who own Warthog would buy the throttle. But just the grip alone is a pointless option for Warthog owners and a meh option overall.

Modern marketing at it's finest @@ Upon closer investigation, I'm 99% certain Thrustmaster is trying to shaft us with doubled pricing for the same middling quality product they've sold us for the last twenty years

Why would they do a new stick.....which is essentially the same.....they should have put the time and effort into new thrust levers...say an F/A-18 or F-14.

Maybe the F16 grip is mounting with a forward angle on the base like to real thing where the A10 one is mounting straight?

Not according to the picture in the DCS World weekend news article.

it's also missing the big yellow arrow I think?

The yellow arrow Is Just a sticker you can easily remove.

According to the angle, the current warthog stick has not the exact angle of the a-10c Stick (if you compare the thrustmaster stick with the a-10c virtual one in VR you can easily realize It). So basically the warthog stick Is a viper's one. They are almost the same grip even in Real Life, It does not make sense TM designs and builds a new Stick identical to the One they already have.

Simply, now you can buy the base separately and choose your grip (warthog-f16 or f-18 ).

I'd like a viper throttle but this requires some sort of design work (not so much maybe since they can start from the cougar's) but it's more work than the One needed for a rebranding

The F-16 stick is also angled forward while the A-10C is straight. They’re simply selling the A-10C grip independent of the base which really only serves those with a Cougar, Virpil, RS FSSB or VKB base. It has the 5 way CMS and the ad says that button 19 will not function with the Cougar.

Below is a Real Simulator F16SGRH. You can see the forward cant.

Seems crazy disabling button 19. People will want use the grip on other modules, and just don’t bind it in the Viper for realism.

The Cougar base doesn’t recognize it because it doesn’t have it originally. If the other bases have programming for 19 switches it will work.

The TM Cougar F-16 grip has the button lettering: WPN REL, TRIM, CAMERA/GUN, etc. like the real Viper stick - the TM A10 Warthog stick does not have this lettering. kinda obvious. If I recall - the new TM pictures didn't show the upper part of the stick where the F16 lettering should be. If its not there - its not an F16 specific grip.

So if it´s only for the lettering, this is just TM now offering both of their grips separately...
