just to let you know that last version of Ikarus is stable with DCS 2.5.0 and DCS open beta 2.5.2 so far with the A-10C profile. No weird freeze for some time now. Thanks for your great work.

I will uninstall Helios

Our team solved the problem with the viewports for displays. They are no longer necessary for them.

For radar, RWR, etc. of course, remains in the views.

Issue with Ikarus visualization

Dears

a really big thanks for Ikarus also on my side. Very nice job and much appreciated.

Unfortunately I have an issue loading the existing files.

I'm using 2 monitors 1920x1080 each, on on top of the other.

The main screen is the bottom one so Ikarus can load the instruments in the right screen.

When I load a file, it seems that the background image is streched and there is no correspondence between the pixel and the position of the instruments. In this way I cannot use the "editor mode" and I have to place the instruments and define the size by trial and error.

Can you help me to understand haw can I solve this issue?

I hope you can help me.

Many thank!

Pakko, please make the download again. If your two monitors support 1920x1080, then it should work fine. Maybe you just changed the wrong cell for the position.

I did it, but no way. It seems everything is streched.

I'm sure I did the right modification into the cell and I have the issue without any kind of modification, just loading the standard profile.

I made the P51 panel, that is simple. What I made fit perfectly on my screen. I can try to send you the file so you can load it and you can tell me what you see.

I have no other ideas...

Finally I found the issue. It was on WIN10 of course :)))

I had a sort of monitor scaling (that I wasn't even aware it was existing).

I reset 1:1 and all Ikarus cockpits work perfectly.

Many thanks for your support and time.

Ciao!

At the moment I'm still working on the Mirage on PCN and PSM. I think it will take another week. Then it's the Hornet's turn...

Hello,

we have made some optimizations and bugfixes to our software again and present you the final and last version for DCS World 1.5.8 (and 2.5.0)

DCS ExportScript

  • added a new help function and added it to some module specific files:
  • Added help function for UTF-8 text editing
    • ExportScript.Tools.getListIndicatorValue() for reading alphanumeric values from cockpit displays.
    • ExportScript.Tools.RoundFreqeuncy() to format radio frequencies correctly.

[*] The documentation adapted, plus a description how to get to the data of the displays.descriptions)

[*]all files set to version 1.0.2

Ikarus

  • Change to version 1.3.4.2b
  • some optimizations and bugfixes
  • Documentation updated
  • several profiles reworked

DAC

  • no modifications

The ExportScript is compatible to DCS World Version 1.5.8 and 2.5.0.

This release does not include an ExportScritpe for the M-2000C, AV-8B N/A and F/A-18C.

Hi all Ikarus team !

Hi all Ikarus lovers !

First let me join all supporters and thank you for giving Ikarus to the (DCS) world, even if I have not tested Ikarus yet. It simply fills a big hole, and it seems to do it right.

I have been reading all 75 pages in the thread (ouch !) and I have a few questions:

1. You say it's open-source, and there are indeed lots of files available, but I see nothing related to the ikarus.exe itself. It seems to me that Ikarus is written in C# / .net (I could see that from a little bit of code that could be seen through a transparent rectangular hole in some dashboard :o) ), but this part does not seem open-source at all, right ? I would have expected .cs, project and sln files, but could not find them - am I blind ? If not, do you plan to publish that someday ?

2. I'm asking because I am especially interested in real-world interfacing; you seem to encourage people to use Arcaze boards, but I have none of them whereas my Arduino drawer is packed. Do you see any drawback in interfacing arduinos ?

What I'd like to do (for Mirage 2000 particularly) is a mix of a "glass cockpit" thanks to Ikarus and "real world buttons" using arduinos and various devices. Building a full-physical cockpit would be ideal, but for instance the M2000 "boule" must be a true nightmare to build, and it seems way easier and faster to use virtual instruments in such cases. Warning lights and 7-segment displays are, on the other hands, easier to build (arduino + MAX 7219 can do the job for a very, very low cost).

It seems you experienced a lot of trouble getting M2000 profile to work. In this French forum, Exo7 maintains a DCS BIOS profile for it:

https://github.com/Exo7/DCS_BIOS-M2000C_Library/releases/latest

See post (in French, feel free to ask for translation on something if you need information):

http://www.checksix-forums.com/viewtopic.php?f=286&t=192389

I don't know why his profile wasn't merged into DCS BIOS Github.

Thank you anyhow ! I will try to contribute if I can.

Ivan, from France.

Hello IvanFroggy,

thanks for the praise, especially since you haven't tried Ikarus or DAC yet.

To your questions:

1. yes, everything (DCS ExportScript, DAC and Ikarus) is open-source.

The source code is only not in the S-D-A repository, but in H-J-P's own.

Here you can find the source code of DAC and Ikarus, and as you can see, written in C#.

2. Originally we only wrote the DCS ExportScript and DAC to control our Arcaze boards (including the extension modules).

Ikarus was only developed later, when we realized that we could not build and control analog instruments.

Nobody here has ever worked with Arduino boards, so I can't say anything about it.

But as I understood the DCS BIOS project, you have to write your own code for each Arduino board and so it is set to a certain task.

You can set up the DCS ExportScript for Ikarus and the DCS BIOS for Arduino in parallel and realize your project with it.

The developer version at H-J-P already supports the Mirage and the Harrier.

You're welcome to try a few of them.

For the Harrier some more panels will be added, then the whole thing will be published.

For some modules you have to find all necessary information with the help of the module viewer, because this information is not entered in the corresponding files.

That's why it took so long until it is (almost) finished.

CU Micha

Hi

I have installed ikarus and think its great.

I have been setting up the f-5e-3 profile and the HSI dosen't work properly. It doesn't show the correct course heading. it only shows 90 degrees or so. it will not show the 200 or 300 headings.

Cheers

Tony
