Oh She's twitchy!

Just got her installed and she's beautiful but man is she a handful. The controls are so sensitive and twitchy that it's by far the most difficult helo module to control. Better have a soft hand is all I have to say because cyclic and rudder input movements that would have you flying perfectly stable in the Huey or mi8 will have you upside down in the Gazelle. Anyone else noticing this?

Don't forget guys, that the weight and flight dynamics between the Huey and Gazelle are completely different. Make sure you have your curves set up properly too.

Yeah agreed. Homey don't modify curves. The other choppers will be a breeze to fly after getting used to this one with this level of sensitivity. I always heard the Robinson R22 was like this and now I think I understand!

Would be very thankful to hear from 'remotely succesful pilots' and their curve (or lack off) settings + hardware. Still fooling around with my settings and to my everlasting shame I am trying the easier controls mode right now. :(

It is still manageable for sure but yes very light touch. Only time it got away from me was the initial launch when my collective axis was reversed. Only been in it for about 15 minutes but had no issues landing it or controlling it overall but it's going to take some serious practice to get the feel for.

Fine trimming makes her actually quite stable... However, landing... argh. :)

I'm sure someone said if you can fly the Huey you can fly anything... Not true :megalol:

Pilots! Controls aren't 'twitchy', birds are twitchy. The controls are 'responsive' and you need to adjust your flying style accordingly! Some of the best pilots I've trained in real Extra 300s over the years have been ex Gazelle pilots, because they have a relaxed and smooth set of hands and are able to make smooth control pressure changes without over controlling.

There's no harm in taming her down with input curves to compensate for the inherent limitations of desk top joysticks. Stick with it because this is going to be one hell of a fun module

She takes some getting used to but she is a beauty, I find landing the hardest :)

What axis setting does anyone recommend? Even for my prothrottle which is as responsive as my fighterstick. This baby needs a non-centering joystick for sure.

I would call her agile. I have my curves set in the high teens for flying.

But if you want to start slow, there is a "Easier Controls" checkbox in the Misc section if I recall correctly.

Did some experimenting. It is the transition between translational lift and forward flight where the aircraft gets "Squirrely." Beautiful model, should be fun after learning to fly.
