In this July 2014 update, the primary news is in regards to the restructured backer rewards. After a careful review of the older system under RRG, we found it financially unattainable. However, the restructured system still provides an excellent value for your backing contribution. For example: each aircraft will retail at $49.99; however, you will receive the item instead at only $20.00. This is in addition to other items such as the Normandy map ($20 contribution and above) and other perks as the backing contribution level rises.

I understand this to mean that we will be able to buy each item we aren't receiving at $20 instead of the list price of $50. That's a pretty big thing if we're getting shorted 4 planes and I really hope that's the case.

State of the SDK is still to be determined, its too early to know on this right now.

I was under the impression that "partners" meant "provided the engine".

In console development terms, you are "partners" with either Microsoft or Sony if they allow you to develop a game for their hardware platform (XBox or Playstation).

So in this case, ED allowed RRG to develop DCS WWII on their platform, the DCS World engine. Doesn't mean ED had any direct involvement or was involved in any deep meaningful way, just as Microsoft and Sony don't have any direct input on many of the third party products that their "partners" provide for their platforms.

At least that's how I understood it. :)

Well I'm happy with my rewards, I would have liked a choice as I already own allDcs modules but it's not a big deal, I'll give my P-51 key to a friend to get him started. I really wondered how RRG could make the $40 dollar level financially viable and I'm glad ED took the difficult decision to restructure. Really ask yourselves, would you like to get your modules and then possibly see ED go bankrupt and never see another product from them again?

No, in your pledge, the plane is valued at $20. If you're not getting a plane as a part of your pledge reward, it'll cost the full price to buy it.

Yes, that is my view on it as well.

Probably ED helped RRG with dev capacity (paid/unpaid?) to get them up to speed in this new environment. But as it was now said a couple of times, this clearly does not at all imply that ED ran the show.

Not $20 value since I already have the P51 and have no use for a third copy. I can live with buying the rest for a discount but I'll definitely be skipping some and waiting for sales on all others if this is the case. I was well prepared for giving up planes but I'm not happy being saddled with another copy of P51 or no discounts on future products.

With the state of the forum I say this in good humor.. I recall that oleg Maddox was the $2000 backer, in the restructured rewards system that level has a reward of having ones face as a pilot model.. please dear {insert holy deity of choice here} no.. just no :p

May be possible for ED (economically) to organize some option for backers, who already have DCS: P-51D, to choose another plane instead Mustang?

Who wants to make some gifts by second p51d key - can do this, who dont want to - will have another plane, and all are happy, going to fly instead to trade keys

Same here.

I won´t probably be flying the Dora or the Kurfust and I already own a copy of the Mustang. I don´t mind waiting for a thunderbolt as part of my pledge if only one plane is what I am getting but at least let us choose the plane we want.

The Fw-190D-9 get to the Backers on "alpha status" or need to wait to the beta on august?

As a $30 backer I'm pretty happy that I never bought the Mustang. Then, on the other hand, I'd rather have the Dora.

Not an ideal solution, but honestly I'm happy that ED is saving this train wreck at all.

Now we see the selfish vocal majority. $40 will give me the Normandy map and Dora at $20 each. I already have the mustang too.. But hey... This is more manageable for ED. So no worries.... Give away ur extra keys to friends.

I agree to take the plane, that ED will choose to give instead second p51. No need to organise user swapping:)
