Thunderbolt - The Conquest of the Reich

Recommended Posts

One of the best aircraft/squadron documentaries I've ever seen.

Well worth the watch:

It deals with the Jug in the last phase of the war, and only barely touches on the fact that it was initially used as an air superiority fighter.

Im sure that ED will get the plane right. Im not so sure people will take to it. A lot of US airmen hated it, hated it with a passion, a lot of airmen also loved it. It was a very divisive aircraft.

At altitude it will definitely be a force to be reckoned with. Also its 8x 50 cal. machine guns were considered hugely powerful.

As a high altitude interceptor (or bomber escort) aircraft as well as a low altitude ground pounder it truly excelled. We will need proper missions, as well as a new damage model to make the most of this aircraft.

If ever they do produce a P-47 for DCS, I sincerely hope that they could add a ground crew member over the wing when taxying, guiding us with his hand gestures :) ... looking at the documentary it seems like it was standard practice
