jeffchrisope
I’m trying to do the Navigation training mission, but I’m having a very hard time getting the dang radio tuned to the beacon. When I’m on the ground, I find something in the rough frequency range, but it only has a single Morse tone every 4 seconds or so, and points the wrong way. I can find a few others, with clear Morse idents, but not the one I need for the mission. Sometimes once I’m in the air, however, if I retune it, the correct NDB (including a correct ident Morse code) is reachable. Is this a known issue? Is there some “range” mechanic here at work? And what is the supposed “tune by ear” approach, using the CW oscillator switch? I don’t see that explained anywhere ... Thanks in advance for the help! Art-J
It's a known issue with NDB frequencies being very close in this mission. jeffchrisope
Ah, great! I hadn’t seen that. I agree that the lesson should either have a warning about the proximity issue, or (better) just use a starting/ending position that doesn’t have the issue. But oh well, I can deal with it now.
