Need HELP to install DCS modules on new computer!

Just moved DCS to a new computer but the "Install" button in the module manager stops DCS and does not start it again with the installation of the selected module?

Did you deactivate the modules on the old computer: Yes.

Did you uninstall the modules from the old computer: Yes.

Did you install DCS on the new computer: Yes.

Are you logged in to DCS on the new computer: Yes.

Do you see the modules on the new computer: Yes.

Are there "Install" buttons on the new computer: Yes (for the modules I own).

Any more ideas?

Hi

Maybe antivirus security creating an issue?

attach your dcs.log from your saved games folder and your autoupdate_log.txt from your dcs install location, it should show us some clues

I am running a fresh install of Windows 10 Creators Edition.

Running only the standard Microsoft Windows Defender.

Running on Windows with Local User account.

Running Local User UAC turned fully off (never notify me).

I also tried to run as Local Admin but this also does not work.

The install of DCS World 1.5.7 and 2.1.0 are totally fresh

Folders are on D:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World and D:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World 2

Logfiles:

DCS157.log.txt = logfile of DCS 1.5.7

DCS210.log.txt = logfile of DCS 2.1.0

dcs157.log.txt

dcs210.log.txt

Do you have any DLC campaigns?

If yes, you have to install the aircraft first, otherwise it crashes.

So again, first time, only install planes, helicopters and maps.

And the second time you install the addons that depends on the above.

Campaigns and GPS.

Uninstalled 1.5.7 and 2.1.x completly.

Deleted Saved Games and DCS World folders.

Only did a fresh install of 1.5.7 with DCS Updater 2.6.22.24.

DCS Version 1.5.7.11476.394.

When starting DCS it did not ask to update.

Started install on module Flaming Cliffs 3 (that I own)

This did not work (see first logfiles)

Forced an update to the latest version.

DCS Version 1.5.7.11762.396.

When starting DCS it did not ask to update.

Started install on module Flaming Cliffs 3 (that I own)

This did not work (see second logfiles)

Can I somehow force the installation of a module?

HELP?

skatezilla has a guide here for using command prompt with DCS

https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=114030

I am a software developer so I have no problem using a command prompt.

But why do I need to use a command prompt to update DCS or more importand install a module that I bought?

I simply should be able to click install enter my key and go flying!

Can you attach your dcs.logs after a fresh attempt to install a module.

also check the version numbers of your installs, current ones below

Latest stable version is 1.5.7.11762.396

Current openbeta is 1.5.7.11762.396

Current openalpha is 2.1.1.11762.287

I just tested in mine and all seems ok

Just stopped the Windows Firewall and Windows Virus scanner.

Restarted DCS and again could install a module.

So the Windows Firewall and Windows Virus scanner are running again. :smartass:

Just did some command promt stuff...

The command promt is old stuff it's now called Windows Power Shell. :smartass:

.\DCS_updater repair

this went ok no repair needed.

.\DCS_updater update

this went ok no update needed.

.\DCS_updater install F-86F

here I got a firewall popup warning so i added the rull allow for dcs_update.exe access.

and then the module installed

when starting DCS it now asked for the activation key.

entred the key and the module was installed.

But from the Module Manager I still can't install modules?

So now I need to install all my modules from a Power Shell command.

Can you please give me a list of all posible module names I can use with the install command?

Found the list of module, terrain and campaign names.

Now going through the commands.......... :music_whistling:

Have to repeat this process for 2.1.x.

Plus I will probably need to manually update every time an update arrives.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Educate your Firewall :smartass:

Which one do you use on your game rig ?

apropos:

10 still has Command Prompt, no need to venture into the blue box called PowerShell if you dont need to for other reasons.
