Flia
Yes. Ingame Viper afterburner is very short. Maybe half of his real lenght. Makempay
Yeah I used to watch these things take off from Davis when I was part of the Muskogee Airshow Committee. They would come in at night, full burner! Amazing sight to see. Hopefully they do give us something a bit better then what we have in DCS atm. :D
terminator345
Another thing is there's no flames inside the engine nozzle, it's all black inside like the afterburner's not on. Wish they'd fix this and make it look something like the f14 or f18's afterburners.

FoxOne007
If I am not mistaken the length of the afterburner depends on which engine it has, the GE engine (that we have in the Viper) produces a shorter afterburner than the P&W engine other F-16 version have. So it would not be realistic for our in-game Viper to have such a long burner [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Harker
F-16C.lua line 470 engines_count = 1, engines_nozzles = { [1] = { pos = {-6.003, 0.261, 0}, elevation = 0, diameter = 1.12, exhaust_length_ab = 8, exhaust_length_ab_K = 0.76, smokiness_level = 0.05, afterburner_effect_texture = "afterburner_f-18c", }, -- end of [1] }, -- end of engines_nozzles . Nice find, thanks! I messed around with it and noticed that you need to offset the exhaust_length_ab value by decreasing the diameter value, otherwise the effect clips through the 3D model. I looked over it quickly, but a diameter of around 0.9 worked for exhaust_length_ab = 8 The vCVW-17 is looking for Hornet and Tomcat pilots and RIOs. Join the vCVW-17 Discord. Makempay
My point is anything would be better then what I see in game atm. Swear I saw a better looking burner on the Su-25t. All kidding aside. The one we got is not even a burners color its like a tan-pink color that has no ambient or radiant color to it at all. On top of that The point of this thread was to bring to light that the burner we have on the viper is seriously Crappy. So I was just keeping attention drawn to that fact. GE. or PW. Point is they both produce a big flame :D... Ours Don't, I can show you just as nice GE Flames as well if you need me to. But I'm fairly sure you already know that though. Strikeeagle345
well considering the Viper is using the F/A-18C's afterburner effect, that makes sense. They have also noted they are still working on the Vipers afterburner effects as they are not done yet. I'm sure we will get it. The thing that bothers me is how long it take to light the AB once the throttle passes the detent. Then how long it takes the AB effect to go away long after the engine has spooled down to idle.
