Looking HERE you can see that it's probably related to the clients connects while the server is still loading stuff, keeping server crashing in the starting sequence. To prevent this, you can try to use a firewall to block connection while the server is loading, give to it a couple of minute to finish the loading sequence, and then open again the DCS Port. Don't worry about your server inside the multiplayer list, as soon as the firewall restore the connection policy to allow on DCS Port, your server appear in the multiplayer list. Samoht Posted September 26, 2018 Share Posted September 26, 2018 The Aerobatics Online servers weren't affected by this bug for a long time, but it's crashing us multiple times on every restart now since the last two updates. To put some numbers behind it: 2018-09-19: 6 crashes 2018-09-20: 8 crashes 2018-09-21: 4 crashes 2018-09-22: 12 crashes 2018-09-23: 5 crashes 2018-09-24: 4 crashes 2018-09-25: 8 crashes My automation scripts detect the failure and restart the server, but it takes time and significantly delays server availability when multiple crashes occur in a row. Keep in mind there are only four scheduled restarts in a 24 hour period on AO. I'm just curious what mitigation steps people have taken with regard to automation. I presume that this is related to players connecting early during DCS loading, but my logs don't show evidence of that. Assuming it is that, though, are you server operators manually setting a Windows firewall rule when DCS starts loading and then change it back when DCS is up? Or are you doing something else? I've been able to live with this bug for awhile now, but it's gotten way worse and need to do something. Edit : it is a private little server and that can appen when the first player was connecting, but hours after server startup. fargo007 Posted October 29, 2018 Share Posted October 29, 2018 (edited) I experimented some more. Load a very small mission with one aircraft in it in multiplayer. Then once loaded successfully, ESC, choose slot, and from that screen at the bottom "Change Mission," and select the actual one. This seems to get past it mostly reliably. ETA - what I believe this is accomplishing is successfully initializing a MP/NET code against a very small/simple mission, when it won't initialize with a larger one. Firewall trick solved the startup crash but still crashing when player join about 1h30 from the beginning of the mission and after. Server is on last OpenBeta build.
