I don't know why the Bofors wouldn't shoot if they 'saw' anything. In DCS 'seeing' isn't necessarily the same as in RL. I'm nor sure what the current status is, but I know it used to be that the AI could see through clouds and trees, maybe other objects as well. So maybe the AI has perfect 20/20 night vision as well. I don't think I've ever read about sight-only weapons as night, so I don't know how realistic the WWII AAA will work at night.

Of course, on the other hand, what a virtual pilot is going to be able to see at night is pretty questionable. What would be the point of even starting a mission, if you can't navigate to a target, or even find it if you could get to the general area?

If you find anything out, please post it, bc I can't get the think to work.

From what I can see, I'm guessing both the Kamaz and the "Siren" are partially copied from an IFV, and I'm guessing you should find them there in the ME... but I couldn't... not there nor anywhere else. The only place I saw anything of them is in the module manager, where they appear as two new modules.

No I couldnt get it to work either mate, I activated the mod, though if there is more to do than that it wasn't really made clear.

In my installation, copying the files into place with OvGME actually somehow allows it to appear in the module manager as installed--just the way the game engine sees things I think.

What is missing is the mod creator did not create 'dcs_manifest.x86_64' files for his mod. These are signature files which, from my understanding, identify the contents of his mod as valid.

I think this is because he basically copied some files from an IFV to create the fire truck AND oddly enough, the siren tower--the latter I'm guessing so that he would have an entity which could be induced to emit sound--but I would hope that he modded it enough that it doesn't drive around the map, that would be weird

Okay, I did find out how to get this into the game. Instead of installing with OvGME, just copy the files into 'X:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS{.openbeta}' .

You will find the Kamaz and Siren in Vehicles/Armour, and you can place them on the map too ..... however--I only tested the siren--it sounds its siren constantly, and I can find no way to turn it on/off, it's just permanently on

Edit: because it is implemented as an armored vehicle, it is a primary target for ground-attacking aircraft, and they will attack it with priority.

Hi Forest1,

I completely missed that you created this mod yourself (didn't see the forest1 for the trees ... okay, bad pun )

The fire truck doesn't really interest me much, but the siren would fit in many environments.

The problem is, the siren is "On" from the time it spawns into a mission. It cannot be turned on/off. There is no mechanism for this, and I don't think using a vehicle as the basis for the siren will allow for it. If one could at least turn the engine on/off in a vehicle, that would be a solution, but I know of no way to do that.

There is however a unit which resembles a siren more than any other, with a function, which can be turned on/off, radar; and there are radar units in the game which are basically AFAIK static. I think it can be spawned into a mission with its radar in an inactive state until turned on by a trigger (siren nose), and then turned off again by a trigger (silence).

What do you think?
