Nevada Casino's Correct Names Mod

I was wondering if anyone would be able to mod the casino's on the Las Vegas strip to show their correct names?

I‘ve started to change those as well as the billboards but it does not work as I want. Unfortunately there is no terrain.cfg that allows us to create folders the same name as the texture archives :(

You could do it for your own use, but I wouldn't widely distribute such a mod.

Copyrights and so on should not a problem. Those mods are made for many games. like GTA,CS,ATS ... with no problems.

And there's a reason they "scramble" or parody the names...

yes as a company you musst have the rights.

As a modder, it will be tollerated IF you not make money with it.

But we still have the problem, that the terrain.cfg file is encrypted in the terrain.cfg.dll for Nevada, Normandy and Persian Gulf map

Thanks for the info guys. Hopefully, ED will unencrypt the terrain.cfg.dll! Would be so nice to have the correct names and custom billboards.

Mustang edited only .dds textures and terrain.cfg.lua file in his mod, nothing encrypted there.

Caucasus has a plain terrain.cfg.lua file and no encrypted terrain.cfg.dll

Does anyone think Ed will un-encrypt the file now that the map is done?

Is it really important to have the good names for the hotels?

For me it would be more important to have the real objects, like Eiffel tower, the venetian scenery, the Paris hot air baloon, or more simple but adding realism: The effect of animated fountains of the Bellagio's pool.

But you know ED. For them, the NTTR is complete since years. Enhancing it even more is far from their priorities, even if for us, the NTTR is far to be faithfull to the reality of Las Vegas. As we're saying in France: Money is the sinews of the war.

I feel it would greatly add to the realism for me to have the correct names on the casino's. I agree, it would be important to have more real objects as well, but I suppose they had to pick & choose for performance reasons.

I hope ED makes the terrain.cfg.lua file un-encrypted in the future so we can mod this map.

 Having the correct names on the casinos would definitely enhance the immersion.

I agree. Would be nice, however ED does not want to see that. That's why they "written into stone". I mean those names on those buildings are 3D models, not textures on a simple plane.
So there are 3 "solution" only.
1. Forget it
2. Edit the condensed 3D model file/pack (LasVegasObjects.ref) - what is close to impossible without an 3D exporter/converter.
3. Measure position and altitude of those names (on the buildings) and make a static object 3D plane/box with the correct name as texture and cover up the wrong-name-3D-model (what are -again- parts of the 3D-hotel-objects).
- Cover up can be more difficult if the 3D label/title is inside of the collision model/box of the building
