Trying to edit the Tomcat over Caucasus to have some units on the boat as the carrier the tomcat resides on is completely empty, edited the base miz and generated a new mission as well as tried to restart using first mission to no avail. Any idea as to why it might not be responding to the edits in base mission file?

Hi guys. I have one question about Tomcat over Persian Gulf by HISOTHIRO. Done 9 missions, and there are only CAP tasks. Is there other types of missions in this campaign?

 

ps It is my first experience in dce campaigns. With released f18 and f14 and dce campaigns, for me started second life in dcs world, after 2 years of break.

 

Hi Artiom! Thanks for trying it.

There's definitely a bug in my campaign, and it seems that only CAP missions are available for now. I'll fix it when my life gets a little less busy and release a V.2 with more missions. If you like the concept, I can totally recommend any other DCE campaign, they work perfectly. This is my first try at making one, so you can see that there's a few imperfections... :D

I was asked to empty the Tomcat carrier deck because it was too laggy at the mission beginning :music_whistling:

I don't understand why it doesn't work for you if you respected thoses steps :

- Edit the base_mission.miz in the Init folder to put static planes and more with the US navy deck mod

 

- Use Firstmission.bat file to generate a brand new campaign

- Play a new campaign in DCS (must not be active campaign)

Yes quite odd, I'll retry the steps and worst case reinstall the campaign and let you know how it goes!

Tried it (without restarting) and I find a big degradation in performance, not on deck but while flying on land with some activity going around me.

 

Could be there's too much stuff going on, however previous missions with previous versions of the campaign weren't so bad on the performance side...

 

Will try another mission later, and eventually I'll also try to restart the campaign, anyway I'm curious if anybody else finds same performance degradation...

in the first mission there isn't awacs ? only 3 tankers

is it normal?

 

in the second mission, i cannot hear Jester voice

i skip the second mission, and another one generated, now i can hear Jester again

I noticed that Jester is silent when there are two more f14's on deck. There is also no sound for extending and retracting the refuel probe. Everything is okay after take off.

It seems that DCS can't manage too much sounds at the same time and Jester voice seems to be the first sound the system choose to stop :music_whistling:

i have complete the first 2 missions (CAP),

the 3rd one is another cap mission, so i skip for 3 times, but always CAP mission respawn

 

is it normal?

the cap mission have the same route every time, maybe i'm doing something wrong

The new options available since my friend Miguel worked on DCE are not still completly optimized and are still beta... He wanted me to wait a little more to use it but I think it's really cool to have datalink, Tankers Tacan channels and soon target briefing pictures so I introduced them sooner. :music_whistling:

 

More is to come : Helicopter DCE campaign and Intercept hotstart missions but I will wait until Miguel gives me the green light for it.

I made an Iran-Irak war with DCE a long time ago with Tiger version for Iran and Mig-21 for Irak on PG map. It's hardly playable but may be prune script will alllow it to work better :thumbup:

On this campaign I hope to make a Gazelle version (I'm testing it) and a Tomcat's one too. :)

I think that maybe the priority number is too high : When Tomcat was strictly AI it was its best mission.

 

Look in the "targetlist.lua" file in the Init folder and lower the priority number from 10 to 2 or 3. It should lower the CAP probability (you will have to restart the campaign or look in Statut folder to change priority number in the Targetlist file too... )

PBO_CEF,

 

I've been flying Hornet over the PG for a while now (think I've done about 10 sorties). Not sure if you're open for suggestions, but I noticed a few things that maybe could use a bit of tweaking.

 

  1. I flew a couple of missions where I was tasked to escort F-117's. I noticed that none of the F-117's actually attacked anything. The assisting SEAD F-16's did their job, but the F-117 just circled the target and in one case even RTB before it reached it's IP waypoint.
  2. I think (for single player) it should be awesome if you'd add some more ai flights. For instance the CAS missions on Siri and Abu Musa could use some additional ai support to prevent the player from having to do three missions to clear all targets.
  3. Not sure what the enemy Rapier skill is set to, but I get shot down every time I get in range. You might want to nerf those a little bit (could also be a lack of skill on my side though :P)

 

 

Still, I'm having lot's of fun with this campaign :thumbup:
