Question for RTX2080 and RTX2080ti owners.

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I did exactly that, upgraded from a 1080 to a 2080. Average of a 30-40% fps increase.

My config and setup are:

8zWjzG.jpg

And this is my PC at the moment:

Intel I7-7700k OC 14% @ 4.8 for stability

Asus ROG Formula IX

Memory Corsair Vengeance 64GB 3600Mhz but running @3000Mhz for stability

Zortak RTX 2080

CPU Cooler Kraken X62

HD SSD 960GB Sandisk Ultra II (system)

HD 3T for storage

M2 SSD Pro Evo 500G for DCS

NZXT Case S340

Windows 10 Home 64

Hotas A-10 Warthog

Crosswind pedals

TM MFD Cougar (2)

Monstertech Hotas support

X-Keys 24 as FA-18 UFCP

Track IR5

Gametrix Seat

Asus 32in 4k monitor for DCS

LG 28in secondary monitor

That's my system. I think it is a good one and will last for a while running DCS.

All the best,

Sydy

Interesting question!

I wondered about this myself, so I bought a 2080 Ti an hour ago.

Hopefully I’ll get it in a couple of days and I’ll give you an answer.

I’m really interested in how DCS will perform in VR. Hopefully a little smoother than my 1080.

I had ordered the 2080ti, but reports of problems gave me cold feet.

I grabbed the 2080, and it was a terrible move.

The upgrade from a 680 was unbelievably good, and now I'm looking at the rest of my once-proud gaming system with disapproval.

The change was so outstanding, I ordered a Pimax 5k+.

So I have to upgrade the overclocked i5 4690K – which means I have to replace the Motherboard – which means I have to replace the DDR3 memory – which means I'm over halfway to a new computer anyway – so I'll just get another case and PSU – I'll probably want to add another 2080 in SLI to get the most out of the Pimax if/when VulkanDCS arrives – so it looks like I'll be living on noodles for a decade or so...

SEE! Terrible move!

I just got a new PC last month and am brand new to DCS so I have nothing to compare it to, but I have the 2080 (non Ti) with the Rift CV1, all graphics settings cranked to maximum, and there’s not much “virtual” about the reality :)

The only true reality is that I have lost lots of precious sleep ever since getting the Rift.

It keeps me happy. You will enjoy too. After I spend the next few months learning to operate the A10, I’ll be looking for some other VR pilots for multiplayer.

Once Navi comes around and can hold against at least a 1080/2070 Nvidia, then don't forget who wanted an arm & a leg to get you playing, Jensen !

I really hope AMD Navi stirrs up the soup HEAVILY in the mid-price segment where most cards are sold. That's where it hurts and where it makes a future.

Would DCS be playable at all with a 2600K chip, at 3.4Ghz, with a 2080 or 2080 Ti card?

I think so, as long as you can overclock it as high as possible. DCS still loves high clock CPU.

Thanks, just wanted to get started before I build my 9900K machine, will just transfer card over.

On New Egg and Amazon guys are having issues with the 2080Ti, I don't mind paying for it but I don't want something that's gonna burn up in my machine.
