TPOD now auto-lasing

I went back and looked at the update, then went back and checked several past updates. So I dropped my GBU-12 and noticed a difference in the TTI countdown. It gives me a countdown, but the countdown is to LASER. Once the countdown completed, the LTD/R signal turned on and the countdown changed to 9 TTI and sure enough the bombs began tracking. Did they ninja sneak this in? Anybody else notice it?

Yes. Noticed. Idk if I'm doing something incorrent, but the LTD/R switch also turns itself off after every lase, so you have to turn it back on every time. Really annoying.

The whole "TRIG" logic appears to be gone completely, at least with bombs.

This explains a lot, I was fumbling about looking for the TRIG option.

TRIG won't be available unless the LTD/R switch is on.

It was on prior to me starting my run. Does it automatically turn off even if the laser isn't fired?

Don't know about that. But it seems like boxing TRIG or not boxing it, makes no difference. And actually pulling the trigger while TRIG is boxed to manually lase does nothing right now. The laser will fire automatically if you drop a GBU-12 whether you want to or not.

I would care to venture a guess that the automatic lasing should NOT happen if TRIG is boxed. Probably bugged as it is now.

Switch probably turns off automatically so it doesn't burn out.

I suppose it's a self protection feature, as if I recall correctly I've read something similar also on other aircraft (i.e. the Su-25T).

I think I've seen it turning off automatically now, when the pod gets masked, even if you're not even lasing anything.

Now TGP do auto lasing ten seconds before impact, after impact LTD/R always goes Safe automatically. Trig check on FLIR page doesnt makes any difference, doing manual lasing prior to auto lasing neither.

This happens only with GBU laser guided bombs, using Maverick E doesnt turn off LTD/R.

Havent tried on masked situation.

Due to the announcement in this thread

Litening Targeting Pod will not include updates for LTD/R and LST (laser), automatic laser illumination, OFFSET cursor and AA mods.
the the Litening TGP shouldn't be able to AUTOLASE with the current OB. Hopefully the Litening will be completed with the next OB release as announced on 3rd June.

Every moment we discover something new about the Litening after the last update. Don't you think it's appropriate that for every update of this kind it's right to release even the reference documentation? It's not a game, it's a simulation.

Anyone try to buddy lase? Seems broken to me right now. I arm LTD/R, click TRIG on MFD, and pull trigger, it goings from "L ARM" to "LTD/R ON", so laser should be firing, except it's not actually. Buddy with an AGM 65-E won't see a laser. Funny enough if I drop a GBU-12, and the auto lase comes on, that's when they see it. So seems like you can't manually work the laser anymore, which means no buddy lasing.

Please advise if you can replicate or you experience something different.

I'm using a TGP and GBU12s, buddy was using Laser Mavericks. They didn't have a TGP so we never tried LSS.

How many switches in real hornet cockpit has automatic reset function?

Off the top of my head:

- APU switch will automatically reset to the off position after the engines have been running for two minutes.

- Fuel dump switch will automatically move to the stop position once Bingo fuel has been reached.

There are probably others.

Did anyone notice that they made the LTD/R switch in the cockpit a 2 position (ON/SAFE) switch instead of a 3 position ON/SAFE/AFT) switch prior to the update? Keybinds are deleted for that switch, also for the LST switch. Another thing i noticed with the TGP is it doing weird things when pressing cage/uncage. It won't reset to boresight anymore, but will move to a 180° masked position o.O

The 2 position switch was in the patch notes.

Oh realy? I missed that... obviously.

I expected some new smaller bugs, so no complaining here. Was just wondering as i haven´t used the TGP for weeks and wanted to try out auto lasing after reading this thread... there is already a post in the bug section about this.

The TGP will lase when you are in Auto mode. The reason it does it down to 10 seconds to impact is to give the weapon more energy before it starts guiding on the laser. GBU-10s and 12s work with guidance where the fins are moving full deflection when tracking a laser, losing a ton of energy in the process. Most pilots wait for 10 seconds to impact so the bomb is streamlined in the air at 400 knots until then.

Will it stay that way, won't it come back again? I am asking because I now have a bug in my home cockpit ... :( .

The AFT position of the LTD/R switch does not apply to our version of the Hornet according to the cockpit foldouts in the NATOPS. It's present on the Super Hornet though on certain Lots.
