Default performance help please

First of all, I know my system is a bit "dated",but with proper setting management the game is very playable as long as I don't try the campaigns

That being said, I would like to bump my FR up a bit (i don't even look at it now, because I know it would be depressing)

My specs are as follows:

Intel Pentium 4 Prescott @ 3.2ghz
2Gb ddr2 pc4200 ram
game running off raptor hard driv
nvidia 9800GT

My question is...would I notice any significant performance improvement by doubling my ram to 4GB? this could be done fairly cheap, but I don't want to spend the money if I won't see any improvement.

any thoughts?

any cfg tweaks I should be using with this low end system to maximize fps?

thanks in advance

Bump.

Will there be any increase in performance that would justify sixty bucks?

As long as your using a 64 bit OS you will see a big improvements across all areas of your pc's by doubling your ram.

Even with 32 bit you should see a difference, but why not do it properly eh?

I'd go with Win7 64

BTW - $60.00 is a bit steep for just 2GB of RAM.

I have four 512s now hence the sixty dollar switch to 4 gb. Should I go to 8gb with win 7 64. Would that make a pretty drastic change with my dated CPU and gpu? Should I also get an ssd soley for a10c and win 7? Would my CPU still be a large bottleneck? Thanks for the help

Yes, for running DCS it will be.

Your spec is nearly identical to my sons PC, he plays BS2 and A10 and it can get very choppy at times. The only solution is a complete upgrade, and even with that its still not perfect!

^^^
Second that! - more ram will help to have faster loading times- and help you out with the worst stutters on your system.
But it will not improve your overall frame-rates at all.
