toutenglisse
Guys, VR optimization announced in DCSW weekend news ! Woohoo ! Imacken you will have better usage of your 80% resolution increase (wich correspond to an increase of 33% pixel density in DCS). ;)

imacken
Guys, VR optimization announced in DCSW weekend news ! Woohoo ! Great news, although I hope it’s not just the mod that a lot of people use. I really don’t like the visuals when using that. etherbattx
most people understand the common definition of resolution and their relative densities in the same physical space, hence the 80% increase correctly stated. 80% increase is almost double. does that mean we can see almost double the details with the Pro? imacken
80% increase is almost double. does that mean we can see almost double the details with the Pro? You have 80% more pixels - 4.61m compared to 2.59m - in the same space, so, yes you will see 80% more detail given the same settings for PD, SS etc. But remember, because you’re pushing around all those extra pixels, the Pro puts a lot more strain on your hardware. Irishlad200000
HTC Vive settings help Hi I have an Intel 6700K@4.5, EVGA GTX1080FTW, SSD and 32 fast ram! For the love of me I can’t get passed 30fps with the Vive in all scenarios! I notice that the Vive software has been updated and have no clue how to tinker with it! Res is at 100%. Any ideas on DCS and Vive settings to use? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

imacken
Don’t want to be pedantic guys, but this is a Vive PRO (vs Rift) thread. Why don’t you start a new Vive one on this topic? Mathieas
You have 80% more pixels - 4.61m compared to 2.59m - in the same space, so, yes you will see 80% more detail given the same settings for PD, SS etc. But remember, because you’re pushing around all those extra pixels, the Pro puts a lot more strain on your hardware. I would like to chime in here. While it is true you have 80% more pixels and thus 80% more overhead in performance needed to attain the same FPS you only get 20% more sub pixels. Each pixel on the Vive Pro/Oddessy has only 2 sub pixels instead of 3 like on the Rift- this is called a pentile display(2.3 million pixels per eye vs 1.3 million, but only 4.6million sub pixels vs 3.8million). This is like the first old OLED cell phone screens. I have used them and you can tell. Pentile displays looks much worse then RGB displays of the same resolution. This personally bothered me enough i returned the headset straight away. As always YMMV.
