[REPORTED]2.5.6 Performance

Recommended Posts

Is pretty unacceptable at the moment, i have considerable stuttering and poor framerates when operating on 2.5.6, SSLR is already off

Have you tried deleting your fxo and Metashaders folders in your Saved Games/DCS folder?

yep

Been testing for two hours over 3 modules in SP so far - no performance changes for me so far (hell I think it got a bit faster, tbh).

Do you see issues on MP or in SP?

SP , certainly frametimes on the Steniss have gotten worse, so i think they have tweaked something there

I must be lucky because I don't see any FPS drop. More or less the same as before probably even little bit better with new lighting :D (free flight both Caucasus and PG instant mission). No mods whatsoever, clean install.

I have also experienced the same behaviour since I updated the beta client to version 2.5.6. and I have cleaned both fxo and metashaders folders. The performance are worst than the previous version.

I play in VR and did not change the graphics settings except for SSLR. I tried it on and off but that did not seems to have any significant impact on the performance.

The improved lightning is very much appreciated, the visibility is much better now than before.

We will see if ED manage to improve the performance with the next patch, this is still work in progress and it will probably takes time for them to optimise DCS with the new version.

Booted today after work. Tried a TTI SP mission. Previously no issues running it in VR. Today noticed small pauses every 10 seconds or so. Previously had NVIDIA control panel work the graphics settings while set to off in DCS. Tried switching it to NVIDIA off and DCS on for those options. No change, still have issues. This is with a 9900K @ 5.0, 32gb of ram and a 1080ti.

Was really looking forward to using the new gunsight in the F-16, but with the performance the way it is, ill have to wait for a hotfix or something. Dont really want to dig out my trackIR.

Yes - i have cleared my fxo and metashaders folders.

I hope it can be done with a fast hotfix. Now it pretty much a no go on the servers I usualy fly on.

I had a loss of 25/35 FPS in big cities with SSLR turned off. If I turn on SSLR I will lose even more. I hope the performance is corrected. The graphics were very beautiful. The night was very beautiful.

I had to turn some graphics settings down/off to reclaim my previous performance . 2.56 does look better though...

all these fps and pause issues you guys are experiencing could be related to the vehicle pathing issue that is known issue..

I'm only throwing that out there I'm not at home, and want be for 6 days so the only thing that has been updated is my server.. and that seems to be working well from a server admin side of things I'll know when people start logging onto it later tonight..

I don’t think so, I replace the default vr hanger with the stennis , so there is no pathing, in the vr menu, the frame times have gone from 6-8ms to some 18 -20ms... all is fine if you use the default vr hanger... my guess they up rev’d the model...or maybe it’s a lighting issue...but as there are perf issues being reported for other stennis related mission my guess is it’s a model change...

I lost performance with 2.5.6 too. In single player, a mission I have been building for some days now (rather ground unit intensive) just went unplayable. Lost at least half my frames, just sitting there on the ramp (units not visible from there).

Online I have lost performance too, joined on a dedicated server. Not as much as the above, but enough to see and measure it. Id say a good 25% in MP, and as much as 50% in unit intensive missions.

This is in 1080p monitor and SSLR is off.

That's TTI causing the issues, though. A lot of 3rd party scripts are broken due to changes in the scripting engine right now, causing CPU load and/or crashes. Everyone is working on it, but until fixed you should refrain from using missions with heavy scripting, or even better w/o scripts at all.

Same performance loss here as well, although it was much more pronounced in the Persian Gulf map on an MP server than in SP. In single player, there are micro stutters every few minutes that start after about 10 to 15 minutes and get progressively worse.

Edit: Adding here that this experience is in VR and there seems to be a commonality that those of us experiencing the FPS loss all seem to be for those of us using VR

Same here, FPS has cut by half. in situations where i got constant 60, even when i lower my graphics settings V-sync give me 30FPS. Without V-sycnc is even worse (constant drops and gains). Unplayable for me, because below 60fps my trackir dont work properly, before patch i got constant 60 all the time. Specs: 4790K @4.6, GTX1080, 16 GB RAM, SSD.

Now, I've tried many combinations of reduced detail, but to performance 2.5.5 I can't get.

I was expecting the arrival 2.5.6 improvement, what has changed that is the complete opposite of that?

Tbh, since all proper missions rely heavily on scripting, that's not much of a solution. Sure you can still fly around and possibly shoot things, but actual missions, in SP and most certainly in MP, are just right out at the moment. The only real solution is rolling back and waiting for the fixes to be in.
