This is our first modern-day combat theater outside of the Caucasus map, and it will provide many interesting and engaging historical and hypothetic scenarios. Please note that the Persian Gulf Map early access release is only for DCS World 2.5 Open Beta. Once the map becomes final, it will be available in the DCS World 2.5 Release version.

 

The Persian Gulf Map for DCS World focuses on the Strait of Hormuz, which is the strategic choke point between the oil-rich Persian Gulf and the rest of the world. Flanked by Iran to the North and western-supported UAE and Oman to the south, this has been one of the world’s most dangerous flash points for decades. It was the location of Operation Praying Mantis in 1988 in which the US Navy sank several Iranian naval vessels.

 

The region also includes the vast Arabian Sea that is well-suited for combat aircraft carrier operations, and it will be an amazing area of operations for the upcoming Hornet and Tomcat. Be it from land bases in Iran, UAE and Oman, or from the deck of an aircraft carrier, the Persian Gulf Map offers a wide array of combat mission scenarios to prove your mettle.

• 201,000 sq km highly detailed map area that centers on the Strait of Hormuz.

Ditemi quello che volete, ma questa mappa non è altro che il Nevada con l'aggiunta del mare. Nel Nevada c'è Las Vegas e qui ci sono Dubai e altre due città. Poi paesaggi desertici come nel Nevada. Ci si stuferà molto in fretta, vedrete..

In effetti anche a me pare che questa mappa sia stata accolta, come dire, senza particolari entusiasmi anche perchè come dici giustamente a parte il mare, Dubai e qualche montagna per il resto condivide molto con il Nevada, in soldoni sempre di uno scenario desertico si tratta con annessi e connessi...

Rimango dell'idea che una mappa dedicata al Vietnam piuttosto che ai Balcani, ecc.. avrebbe riscosso ben altro successo, ad ogni modo per quanto mi riguarda gliela lascio volentieri in attesa delle Falkland, sempre che nel frattempo non esca qualcos'altro anche se mi pare improbabile...

Il Nevada è inutile come mappa, solo deserto, infatti non la prenderò mai, questa invece ha il mare tra 2 terre, quindi come missioni ha più varietà, e se vogliamo più possibilità di farle verosimili a fatti accaduti realmente

Credo che al limite chi ha già Nevada può sentirsi con un "doppione" (ma neanche tanto). Io NTTR non ce l'ho e mi godo il golfo :)

Penso anche che il terreno desertico non sia un elemento negativo: conosco diversi piloti virtuali che preferiscono volare su Israele piuttosto che Balcani o Corea.

La mappa dei Balcani (guerra anni 90') sarà l'unica che comprerò in futuro. Per ora con Caucaso per verde e montagne, e Golfo per il deserto, sono apposto per molto tempo.

Mi sono appena creato e giocato una missione nel Golfo, non male come vista..niente male..

Penso anche che il terreno desertico non sia un elemento negativo: conosco diversi piloti virtuali che preferiscono volare su Israele piuttosto che Balcani o Corea.

Rispetto sia al Caucaso che alla Normandia, il Nevada a mio avviso è di un livello decisamente superiore, e comunque parlare di doppioni non ha davvero senso. Il Golfo Persico probabilmente farà la differenza online, almeno me lo auguro.

Temo però che le mappe di DCS siano tutte legate da un comune denominatore che è quello di una avere una connotazione prettamente "militare": Siria, Afghanistan e Golfo Persico (IRAN), e se del caso Crimea. Non credo vedremo mai vietnam, Korea ecc. ecc se non come mappe di terze parti, vedi Falkland.

Anch'io, come premesso, mi associo al "Club del Kippur", e comunque ho sempre preferito il deserto che, questione di gusti a parte, offre sempre un rendering generale migliore, e decisamente più adatto alle sim rispetto al classico scenario "verde", dove lo spot dei bersagli è sempre un delirio.

Devo ancora provarla ad essere sincero ma sono molto ottimista per questa mappa.

Provata oggi per un'oretta. Tralasciando le città (molto belle davvero) ho trovato comunque un terreno molto "attraente": non é assolutamente tutto piatto e ci sono zone montuose molto invitanti per il volo a bassa quota. Anche gli aeroporti sulle isole non so perchè ma mi piacciono molto.

Ok, poca vegetazione ma se voglio vedere il verde vado sul Caucaso.

Per ora sono soddisfatto.

Here is a look at the expanded area into Iran. Not only does this include the new airbases of Shiraz and Kerman, but it also includes expanded road and rail network, increased mesh and texture resolution in the expanded area, many new towns and cities, and other elements. As you can see, the upate dramatically increases the size of this map.

 

This update is currently in external testing.

 

We are now moving on to add some additional airfields and landmarks in the UAE.

DCS World 2.5 Update

 

This week we launched our first major update to the Persian Gulf map! In addition to adding the large Iranian airbases of Shiraz and Kerman, it also greatly expands the map with a larger detailed area with higher resolution elevation and textures. Further, many new towns and cities have been added, the Gate Hotel in Dubai, as well as an expanded road and rail network in Iran.

 

 

This update brings the Persian Gulf map to almost the same size as the Caucasus map and provides many more gameplay options and a much larger battleground to fight in.

New additions coming to the map include the SA-2 and Rapier surface-to-air missile system, the HY-2 Silkworm anti-ship cruise missile, the Aldar Headquarters building, the Sheikh Zayad Grand Mosque, and oil platforms. After that, new airfields (Abu Dhabi International Airport), unique buildings (Abu Dhabi with F1 race track), and weapons (Scud) will be added.

 

So, while the map size is final, we are and will continue to be add content to this map.
