Airports

Given that airports/airbases in DCS can be modeled with increased individual detail, we would like to ask your help in collecting photos and possibly other data that you believe may be useful in accurately modeling the airports/airbases currently included in the sim.

If you would like to submit such data, please make a single post for each airport for which you are submitting information, clearly identifying it at the top of the post. If more information on that particular airport becomes available later, please make a new post for it. Do not include information on more than a single airport in one post. Please refrain from posting overly large images and link or thumbnail to them instead.

Note, a mirror thread has also been created on the Russian forum here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=31457

Below is a list of airports/bases currently modeled in DCS, with their associated ICAO and IATA designations where I could find them. See the attached map for reference. Corrections are welcome.

Thank you!

I dont know how helpful it is, but atleast you get ILS and NDB frequencies. Also Parking, taxiways and Runways are shown.

I've copied the list and will stop by at the "Nav. Dept." tomorrow afternoon. 'We' do our own (in-house) navigation documentation so hopefully they'll have something that might be useful (even if we don't fly into these airports on a regular basis).

Let's make ED -> Airport Design utility for DCS.

XML file structure is best choice for MODders.

For Example:

XY modders create AP_Maykop.xml (Airport structure file)

When player connect to the server, the client downloading this custom Airport xml files.

It's a dream?

Google Earth is a great tool and of course it will be utilized to the best degree possible. However, this thread is designed to collect resources that are not as easily found, such as airport/airbase photos of the control tower, structures, surrounding terrain, etc. For example, many aviation photography websites feature photos of some of these airports.

Keep in mind, it's quite possible that these resources will be used by third-parties and not ED. At this time, this is simply a data collection point for possible future use.

Thanks for everyone's contributions so far.

Just to clarify, I wasn't talking about Google Earth's satellite imagery. If you clck on the "Geographic Web->Panoramio" box in the "Geographic Web" layer, there are numerous eye-level photos of the new terminal building at Sochi that aren't easily found on aviation photography websites.

Sochi/Adler

The airport seems to have changed significantly since the video ...

Great vid. I know that the cam used don't catch the colors like it actually is but those colors are vivids and warm comparing those in DCS. (OK, already argued, don't shoot)
