I got the oculus rift s, with a 1070 video card and a good computer..

But all settings have to be set to low or off and even then it runs poorly, what gives ??

I have the VR hook up to the video card and I also have a TV plugged in (in place of a monitor)

Can anybody shed some light ??

There are many many bugs that affect VR at the moment in the current 2.5.6 release but don’t despair just yet as I think we will be seeing some update fixes later this week all going well.

Probably not worth chasing possible changes to your settings or system until DCS sort out their end.

Just hang in there mate...

What version of dcs are you running, when you say it runs poorly what do you mean, what about other aspects of your pc,define 'good' what are your nvidia settings?

Well, your GPU is below the recommended system specs for VR

Recommended VR systems requirements (VR graphics settings): OS 64-bit Windows 8/10; DirectX11; CPU: Core i5+ at 3+ GHz or AMD FX / Ryzen; RAM: 16 GB (32 GB for heavy missions); Free hard disk space: 120 GB on Solid State Drive (SSD); Discrete video card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 / AMD Radeon RX VEGA 64 or better; Joystick; requires internet activation.

Doesn't say you can't play and enjoy in VR. But do expect low graphics settings

System specs:

i7-8700K @stock speed - GTX 1080TI @ stock speed - AsRock Extreme4 Z370 - 32GB DDR4 @3GHz- 500GB SSD - 2TB nvme - 650W PSU

HP Reverb G1 v2 - Saitek Pro pedals - TM Warthog HOTAS - TM F/A-18 Grip - TM Cougar HOTAS (NN-Dan mod) & (throttle standalone mod) - VIRPIL VPC Rotor TCS Plus with ALPHA-L grip - Pointctrl & aux banks <-- must have for VR users!! - Andre's SimShaker Jetpad - Fully adjustable DIY playseat - VA+VAICOM

A 1070 really can’t cut it with a rift s, sorry.

Well that's just not true, since I use a 1070. You have to settle for lower settings, but it's still very playable and looks good.

Yeah, I played VR in an OG rift with a 980M (1060 was better). But I had low expectations and they were met. These days DCS is running even worse.

New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, HP Reverb (formermly CV1)

Old-N-busted: i7 4720HQ ~3.5GHZ, +32GB DDR3 + Nvidia GTX980m (4GB VRAM) :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, Rift CV1 (yes really).

Yeah but you are also running much higher resolution than in the beginning, so not surprising it would run worse.

Plus DCS is more CPU bound than anything.

Mine seems to be about the same for me with my Rift S.

Sorry, I should have been more descriptive, At low altitude the ground “freezes” for a second so it’s anything but smooth same thing with fly by (f3) and enemy fighters ina fight.

If there are multiple airplanes and they launch missiles, it just gets super choppy.

your GPU is below the recommended spec to run DCS in VR so chances are it can't process fast enough, or doesnt have enough RAM, i can tell you on a 6600k OC'd at 4.2Ghz with 32gb RAM with a 1070ti, it was just about passable, when i was running an O+

That said, if you have everything set on low, you might get a reasonable experience , your 2nd screen photo is almost unreadable, so we cant tell what your systems specs are!

I think you have an i7 -6700 running at 4 ghz, with 32Gb of ram?

We dont know what your in game settings are?

we don't know how you have configured steam VR or WMR?

we don't know what your nVidia settings are?

when you say the latest release do you mean the latest stable release (2.5.5) or the latest beta release (2.5.6) which has very well known performance issues...

..are you running on an SSD?

Seems like you know your stuff and I definitely dont, so I appreciate the help.

Let me try and answer your questions,

I am not using steam. Not sure what WMR is, but I just DLed the game and the oculus software and started playing.

I am running 2.5.6.

Pretty sure I’m using an SSD

All settings are in the link below

apologies for some reason i thought you were running a O+ (wmr and steamvr are needed for Windows Mixed Reality Headsets) rather than rift s. Your Graphics card is still under spec for VR though.

i still cant see your settings because photobucket doesn't like my adblocker...

That said you are running 2.5.6 which is the latest *beta*, and there are numerous threads about the performance issues with that version... my suggestion is to revert switch to the stable release 2.5.5.

i honestly don't think your settings will matter much, given you are 2.5.6. but, add them to your profile and include a link to those images in your reply...

Download the oculus tray tool and set the PD from there, setting the PD in DCS seems to give worse performance and i leave it at 1.0 in game and run it at 1.4 from the tray tool.

I can also run the x2 antialiasing setting in DCS and have a decent experience, this works especially well will the Vipers smaller MFDs.

If you are running an nvidia card then i would also go into the nvidia settings and cap the frames to 45 this stops the gittering and pausing you sometimes get and stops the headset hitting ASW as often.
