HP's Reverb VR Pro Headset

Recommended Posts

I have a consistent problem with Steam Failing. It happens at least 80 percent of the time when I load a mission or in multiplayer just as the I've sat thru all the loading it flashes for a few second the mission but then the headset goes to black and there is a msgbox saying Steam Failed.

Has anyone else seen the behavior?

Couldn't HP finally release Rev.3 with a cable without a connector? This cable is a mistake. My Rev.2 set starts to turn off for a second, and from the new I connected the cable once and attached the clip. I never disconnected it - the connector worked less than two months :(

 if this happens to me during a 24h team endurance race, it will be absolute disaster... i will get rid of it and get a Rift S...

Is anyone with a Turing card seeing the new VRSS option in the latest nVidia drivers CP? Not showing for me.

(Yes, I know DCS is not supported!)

Yes - it only shows for games that have been tested and approved by Nvidia, which currently is just a few (20). Only one I have so far that I have seen has this option to use is Robo Recall.

If you don't have a externally powered USB hub to connect your Reverb into ... get an externally powered USB hub to connect your Reverb into.

For the Reverb you really, really should use this or an separately powered PCIe card, to deliver enough power to the display. These headsets are essentially two WQHD displays in one. It needs power. No one with a brain would connect his normal computer display through the mainboard USB controller, especially not two.

Those first four words sums it all up quite well, along with explaining a lot of things.

When it works it works, dont mess with it.

I have a USB type-C port & hub that supposed to have more motherboard power.

Then again I use this hub because it has on/off switches per port.

Do have to unplug and replug it once in a while, so again, nothing is perfect.

Can someone please provide the resolution when set to 200% in SteamVR pre-update? My WMR updated and now it uses the new scaling which is higher than before. Now my 200% is in the 3000s which is way too high.

For me, the powered external hub was the only way of having trouble free Reverb use. The Inateck pci-e card and mobo port both created issues for me.

It was the Inateck PCIe card that worked for me. I started by trying to use my existing Amazon Basics external, powered hub, and I still had issues. I think my external hub is just short on power when it comes to VR, so I was looking into buying a different one. But, I settled on the Inateck based on information posted on the Oculus site. Worked great with my Rift, and works great with my Reverb. I see some guys even have reliable operation using their MoBo ports, so I guess its another case of everyone's rig being different. Different peripherals attached to USB ports, etc. To sort of echo what Majapahit said, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. But, if it is broken, an external hub seems like the best place to start. I already had one before VR just to keep my HOTAS happy. Had one since the Falcon 4.0 days. :D

I have 22+ usb devices connected at the same time on my pc, none of my hubs is powered, (the big 10port hub is connected via innateck though) and had 0 issues for 2-3 years now.

My advise: Get the biggest, most expensive gold class PSU you can afford. I am no expert but i think this is what did the trick for me.

Hi TOYKILLA,

I've been wanting to try that to see if there are any advantages. What adapter are you using to accomplish that?

Yesterday the WMR plugin has been updated again:

https://steamcommunity.com/games/719950/announcements/detail/1691596648443063622

The changelog is reporting a scaling improvement for Reverb

BTW, I think that people reporting problems should indicate what version of plugin and SteamVR are in use...

Four days ago, I got to start up DCS for the first time in months. And I had to give the Viper a try as well as the new Warthog cockpit updates. And I couldn't believe how smooth Reverb was in the Viper/PG map. I left after as default and didn't tweak a thing. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to make a through the lens video like I did with my pimax5K this weekend.

PS: It's so weird seeing the joystick on the right, very odd!

When you play DCS, do you do see a little SteamVR title on the deskopt? You should see the "hamburger" setup (three horizontal lines) in the title. You can get to setup from there.

Or, click on the Start menu and just type "steam" and you should see SteamVR.

So projection settings have changed again for me.

I just updated Steam VR and the Steam WMR app. As usual, this reset the projection settings in WMR. I thought I might try DCS without editing this file (removing the // from the auto setting) just to see. Nice and smooth and locked at 45 with no lag or stutter when looking sideways out of cockpit like it used to.

I did a full system restart and re-checked. All good.

So for me at least, Completely stock Steam VR and WMR for Steam VR locks at 45 and is smooth.
