I guess this can be the downside of the "surprise" hype-train. Unless it's two days away or so. The hype builds up so much that no matter what you release, some are going to be pissed that it's not a, b, c, or d bird.

For me, I buy ED products (and third party products) just to show support and to make sure ED/3rd Parties don't go the way of other (now defunct flight sims). It's only one more sale, but it's all I can do to support this platform.

But I must admit, I find myself wondering what the surprise could be. For marketing-wise, I guess it worked! :)

Very similar here. Apart from support it's also a bit of a collector thingy.

Well, at least I can say I had a bit of flying time in every module that was published since LOMAC times, but in the end it boils down to about three to four I fly regularly.

I really don't mind, as it is more or less my only active hobby.

I hope they're planning a steam train or a row boat, we're definitely due another Christen Eagle II meltdown.

Austin Allegro nicknamed the 'flying pig' It has the same name as F-111 Aardvark:

The General Dynamics F-111 never had an official name other than F-111 but was known as the “Aardvark” in US service (all aircraft were retired by 1998 including the EF-111 “Raven” an electronic warfare version), it was called “Pig” in Australia

Give me "flying telephone pole" (SA-2)!

We have enough blue force modules, give us a Lada instead of an Allegro!

Best guided weapon in the REDFOR arsenal, according to dash cam err, uuh, ahem "HUD" videos anyway..... almost a 100% impact rate, and the shrapnel it produces is substantial.

How about a dassault Rafale? I Know you like those french aircraft. I was on CVN65 Enterprise when we allowed the French to land carrier recoveries. Summer of 2007.

Rafales in service:

France - 150

Egypt - 14

India - 36

Qatar - 36

Not as badass as the hornets of my squadron but man it's a sexy plane.

Alright, so I’m thinking of other options here...

They mentioned something about a Whale...A-3 Skywarrior maybe? It’s nicknamed “The Whale”

To see a Rafale in DCS, you can come back in about 30 years :music_whistling:
Well, there was a Mod for 1.5, let's say we likely only see it as an AI plane in the next decade? :music_whistling:

I'm not sure how well the strengths of the AC-130 would be served by the DCS at this moment with somewhat limited infantry, soft target and fragmentation effects modeling. Not to mention the AI sniper ground fire..

I'd still prefer the F-15E at this point; even though its appeal is somewhat blunted by the MFD's of the F/A-18C and the upcoming F-16C Block 50, it's still considerably more capable than those in terms of payload and range, I'd expect.

Or at least the A-7E which would be a nice step back from these multi-roles (i.e. the vulnerability to enemy fighters would certainly add much appreciated tension to the missions and require better coordination with friendly fighter cover)..

The older AI snipers (BMP-1, BTR, T-55 etc.) have a big malus during nighttime.

As the AC-130 is supposed to do nightshifts I can see a nice use CASe here.

The infantry should be doable. The 105mm has a blast range and the miniguns/cannons do a pretty good job in the Huey and work well in CA.

What sucks are the "area effects weapons" rockets, Cluster munitions, that things designed to incapacitate infantry over an area, rather than killing everyone.

In DCS you get a lot of yellow and red bars, but that, unlike real life, does not stop them to run around and fire at you...

Though latest change logs had a notice about cluster munitions (CBU) and I am eager to test them, again.

As this is a modified gazelle, i think Polychop should release it as a subversion. :clown:

I have a lot of fun with the AV-8 and M-2000C. So i'm looking forward to future modules from RAZBAM.

If it is an A-3 i hope we can do buddy refuling with it.
