Sandbags

+1 Static objects could do with a makeover, HESCO walls, FARP configurations, FOB building blocks (walls, towers, fences, sandbags blah blah blah) but for me further down - I don't want 2.5 delayed by a single solitary second.

yeah i was just saying this yesterday. I'd love to see some new desert additions brought in ... things like cave entrances, desert outpost/firebase structures... these would all add quite a bit to potential desert CAS operations for SoH/ Nevada

To build something like what you want we need a 3d mission editor like ArmA 3's one, it is impossible to do it with the current one.

Yeah, it would be near impossible to stack or combine objects into a wall currently, would be better to have different types of already completed walls and such, or a 3D ME, but not sure of the work that would need to be done for that.

I'm guessing a lot just looking at EDEN as a reference (I know we're not supposed to discuss other software but just using it as a reference for comparison) - I mean something like that would be perfect.

Stacking objects meh, more for the creative amongst us who are prepared to spend a little more time creating stuff - more for a 3D editor though.

I was thinking more along the lines of completed walls (different types, heights, dimensions, left and right corners, rounded sections, watchtower types, different FARP types (single helipad for instance) more tent variants stuff like that - which doesn't rely as heavily on a 3D editor.

Speaking of 3D editors I swear an ED member said one is under consideration or is in progress, I'll just find the post.

I think ME improvements are planned, but no real information has been given or revealed yet. I know that 3D editors are a big wish list among the community for a long time, and the improvements ED is making should allow for it eventually.

OR

In the ME you just draw an articulated line or a polygon, set it as a type (eg, sandbags, gabions (HESCO) etc..), maybe the height, and have a bit of procedural generation going on behind the scenes to generate the simple 3d mesh and collider.

It's not like it's not done this way in many other games, 3d editors, etc...

RAnger79's mod pack contains HESCO walls in different lengths, barbed wire, checkpoints and such, you might want to check it out.

Stacking objects would be less than ideal. DCS is much larger scale than Arma already :p We don't need to balloon the object count with thousands of sandbags lol

Sone prebuilts would be fine, though. There are a handful already, ZSU-23-2 gun emplacement for example has a sandbag barrier.

I could create some sandbag walls if you guys wish.

Corners, straight and damaged, ie: falling over

They would have collision files only.

Yes? No?

Also, not to change the subject,

How about German Artillery Bunkers, placed upon the Normandy cliffs.

They were used to shell the incoming ships on D-Day.

The allies sent Rangers in to destroy them before the invasion.

A great book about this is "Dog Company, The boys of Point du Hoc"

Highly recommended!

(I have six of these in progress. I need to get them to fire Large cannons!

Currently they only fire machine guns.)

They are based on the actual bunkers.

"Yeah, and though I work in the valley of Death, I will fear no Evil. For where there is one, there is always three. I preparest my aircraft to receive the Iron that will be delivered in the presence of my enemies. Thy ALCM and JDAM they comfort me. Power was given unto the aircrew to make peace upon the world by way of the sword. And when the call went out, Behold the "Sword of Stealth". And his name was Death. And Hell followed him. For the day of wrath has come and no mercy shall be given."

.

A 3D Editor would be awesome but even something like this would be a huge improvement.

Haven't found the Ranger79 mod Looney mentioned to see if it has sandbag walls or just the modern fortifications yet.

The WWII Asset Pack has naval gun bunkers already. Maybe you could get your artillery functioning using files from that.
