Remove Module Icons

Toni Carrera

Recommended Posts

Hi Fellow Pilots;

Is there a way in both 1.5 & 2.0 to remove the icons in the menu screen for the modules I do not own? I only have three or 4 that I do not own.

Thanks in Advance

1st, I dont recommend doing this, as you may mess up other stuff:

Open the Entry LUA in NotePad++

Located in /DemoMods/Aircraft/<Module You dont own and want to Hide Icon>/Entry.lua

(some might be located in /CoreMods/Aircraft/

and put rem brackets around the skin declaration.

(if done correctly, skins declaration will turn green, and only the skins block, make sure to put open and close brackets, otherwise you'll rem out more than just the skins block.)

Save, close.

File will be either removed or cause an issue when updating, so save a backup copy of the original to put back before updating.

ie:

--[[ Remove Icon
skins	=
{
	{
		name	= "MiG-21Bis",
		dir		= "Skins/1"
	},
},]]--

I have deleted the ones I don't own or not installed

from / demo mods, without any problems.

Now only the aircrafts / Terrains I own appear.

Just keep them somewhere else in case...

That worked perfect. I just removed the ones I will never buy and now I do not have to click each end to find either my A-10 on one end to my hidden UH-1 at the other end. Just made a backup folder and cut them into it from from /DCS World/DemoMods folder.

I wouldnt recommend deleting them,

As I said, you can Remove the UI / Skin Block and the Icon will not be loaded,

Deleting entire Aircraft folders is bound to start trouble w/ DCS when it looks for those files in MP or SP.

make a copy

example:

.....\Mods\aircraft\A-10C\Skins\1

open file icon in your favorite image editor, I like Photoshop but there are many others out there, once opened use eraser tool and erase the icon then save.......

It will only appear when you run the mouse over it....:pilotfly:

or use the file provided

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

REMing out the Skins section of the Demo mod entry lua removes the entire block, (Icon, Name, Version etc)

There is a best way to do that without breaking the IC

1. in MM, disable any module you have installed (un-check the green tick and apply

2. go to saved game/dcs/config/, you will find pluginsEnabled.lua

3. open it with notepad++, you will find the content

4. follow the same way, and add those modules you dont want to see into that lua file (the module name can be found in DCS/DemoMods/aircraft/xxx/entry.lua

Done
