Can't change waypoint, everything related to waypoint does not work. Is it a bug ?

Marc..

As the other comment said, you just have to use NAV and cycle the waypoints with CTRL + ~ or LShft + ~.

However, if you're having issues this early in the campaign you're in for a world of hurt with the rest of the campaign, as it's full of bugs and problems throughout that require mission editor to fix. My recommendation (as I said in the other Bear Trap post) is to forget it and play the Georgian War campaign instead. $9.99 for better missions and no crazy bugs.

You assume too much. While I would recommend TGW myself it's not free of bugs. No campaign actually is. Even when one is, after the next update is not. DCS is constant WIP and this means mission breaking sometimes.

The Bear Trap is a decent free campaign - so while not so complex and certainly not impressive with VOs it's just different experience - not at all that bad.

Red Flag and Aggressors are also DLC and not free of bugs either.

Lol. I didn't realize it was that old of a thread honestly, I was only viewing the first page or two. Either way, my point in posting was to try to help someone avoid the same headaches I experienced. Bear Trap left a bad taste in my mouth after constantly having to use ME to figure out what was wrong and how to fix it so I could actually pass the mission. Redoing waypoints, takeoff times, altitudes...it was just a headache.

I understand having some bugs but Bear Trap for me was unplayable because of them...at least if left in its original design. The campaign was unbeatable without spending considerable time with trial and error in ME.

Maybe you should've join the forum and ask back then. Maybe you just didn't meet the mission success requirements. We'll never know.

There may be some AI crashes here and there but you certainly don't need to run ME to complete the missions when using the fixed version.

I know I didn't meet the mission success requirements for them. The problem was, I did everything I was supposed to do for the scenario and the mission would still fail. The majority of my issues came from SEAD/strike pushes at the wrong time, or SEAD just getting obliterated by SAMS. They weren't very good at SEAD I guess lol. The 1500 MSL waypoint issue really threw me for a loop, and it took me awhile to figure out why my strike package died. I watched the replay and finally figured out they just casually cruised into the earth.

Another mission, AWACS got shot down before I could even get airborne. That one may have been part of the scenario though, as I was still able to complete it successfully with no BRAA calls. I did try everything possible though to prevent it without using ME, including super light weight to get there ASAP after airborne, and taxiing while the second engine was still starting up lol. But I still couldn't get there in time and the escort guys ultimately failed. I ended up just completing it anyway, but given the rest of the random issues I had I figured that was another bug/mistake.

Other missions I would get mission success before I even made it to the designated waypoint or engaged anyone. It was all over the place.

Speaking of random crashes, I learned a couple days ago you have to actually tell your wingman (at least in the Georgian War campaign) to RTB or he'll just follow you off your wing for landing and crash into the field next to the runway lol. This game cracks me up sometimes.

You didn't have to do it before. You just landed and then your wingman figure out what he had to do next. AI bug.

As for the campaign problems I don't know if you're talking about fixed version or original. I have no idea if it's included in the F-15C/FC3 now.

Next time you have a problem in particular mission just make a thread about it and attach your track file. We'd go and try to figure out what's wrong. Usually you just have to stick to the briefing. Sometimes you don't have to fire any weapon at all to get mission success - it's ok, just RTB and enjoy the win.

Definitely will do for the future. I wish I had known about this site earlier. Thanks.

Just as a side note to my corrected versions, there is quite an extensive changelog supplied with each campaign zip file highlighting all of the corrections done to each mission, bearing in mind I have been patching the missions since DCS 1.2, then 1.5 and then DCS 2.5, so they have been very thoroughly checked by me alone, and by a few generous user that have spend their time flying them and letting me know about how their experience was.

I also read the forums everyday and take note of users fault reports regarding all sort of modules that I have been involved in correcting and re-test those faulty missions with my self test mode to verify their claims, some times it is just the users inexperience at fighting that they can't complete the missions, other times it is definitely an issue that a new bug has been introduced, the ratio would be around 50/50.

User response is critical, if you just get on forum and just complain and give no detailed fault description, How to reproduce, screenshot, track file or video of issue, nothing will happen I certainly will not respond and nothing will get repaired.

As for the AI having issues every now and then between patches I can't stop that happening, but each and almost every mission I ever editd has a built in test mode, the human aircraft is programmed to fly the mission as a human would.

I use Combined arms to monitor all aspects of the mission for testing:

  1. I put the "Players" flight into AI mode=Excellent.
  2. Set "Immortal=on" (To simulate a good human player, AI just isn't good enough to survive most senarios).
  3. Enable "Battle commander mode" so I can send radio commands to send in other flights and let the whole mission play with all AI aircraft only.
  4. So at the time of my corrections I know that all the logic and voice overs work correctly, all the aircraft all do their jobs correctly (If they don't I try to do a work around or log a fault report to get it repaired), this is why I can be confident that the mission works as it should, when a human flies it, there may be slight differences that may cause issues (Humans will take longer to kill enemy usually), that is why I now post missions on the USER Files section of ED website as feedback from users are invaluable to fine tune any slight problems that might arise, if the reports are mostly favorable, then ED is more likely to install my work into the release patches of the DCS game itself.

P.S. Don't feel bad about just saying campaigns and missions suck and nothing works, most of us have thought like that at some time or another, even me, that is why I started to repair the missions so I could actually play them myself, then it made sense to share with others to cut down on their frustrations.

P.S. Regards the in game version of BEAR TRAP, has been updated recently, but has the older broken mission sets from ED as their base and none of my fixed versions in them at all.

Regards, Ian.

Thanks for your input, Ian. I wish I would have known earlier and I could have saved the logs to show the issues I was having. I was using 1.5 with your mod file, but without the logs I know the feedback is moot. I'll be sure to post here in the future.
