How well is doing DCS sales-wise?

Hello,

I've just bought my first DCS module of 2019 (a Christen Eagle if you must know :) ) ... and the order number catched my attention .. it seemed quite a bit larger than the order number of my previous purchase a couple months back.

We all know that ED doesnt like to discuss the state of their business: we dont know what modules sell best, how large is the user base, etc. Sometimes it worries me, as I truly desire ED to suceed financially .. in order to have security that this hobby of mine will still be around for years to come.

So it clicked on my mind: I always purchase modules at year-end sales, I could then use the order number as a means to know how many orders are generated each calendar year .. my first DCS purchase was on Dec-2014, so I could make a quick graph of the last 4 years:

Of course this graph tells nothing about unit sales, or dollar income, but it gives a measure of how many purchases are made each year .. which does give a glimpse about the sucess of DCS, these last two years have been markedly better than previous years.

What changed between 2016 and 2017? .. in my opinion it is the effect of the increase in aircraft modules created by both ED and third parties: Mirage 2000, Gazelle, Mi8, F-5 and Spitfire came late on 2016; Viggen, L39, Harrier and Normandy Map on 2017.

So, looking ahead to 2019 I wish ED the greatest sucess, with the Persian Gulf Map, F-18 and F-14 leading the way :)

Best regards

Change 2016 - 2017 seems very abrupt otherwise there is almost no random variation. (Graph should be a bit different too since it's cumulative data and you're mainly interested in the difference.)

I'd say they just changed their order numbering scheme :music_whistling: 2016+2017+2018 can't have been bad for DCS though.

Not so .. I calculated the difference between the order number of each December, in order to get the quantity ordered each year .. it is that quantity the one I graphed. The current order number is around 676874.

..and you'll be banned

...and all your previous posts and mentions of you deleted

:bye:

I sure hope not, as this post reflects a genuine happiness that ED seems to be doing much better than I previously tought (as everyone talks about how niche and small this market is).

Although it is very interesting and if representative means the user base is growing or most of us users simply bought every module.

However if the user base is increasing that means more incentive to improve DCS and it's collection of modules and that's a win win situation for all of us, right.

Control is an illusion which usually shatters at the least expected moment.

Gazelle Mini-gun version is endorphins with rotors. See above.

Currently rolling with a Asus Z390 Prime, 9600K, 32GB RAM, SSD, 2080Ti and Windows 10Pro, Rift CV1. bu0836x and Scratch Built Pedals, Collective and Cyclic.
