Wanted:Realistic Visibilities

The ME only allows reduced visibility in the form of fog, i.e. it can only be 3800’ thick and a few (I think 5) miles visibility. In the real world there is haze. The haze layer exists below the cloud deck, whether it be 3000’ or 10,000’. Real world visibilities on a normal day are 5, 7, 10... maybe up to 20 miles or so typically. The ME could allow this easily by simply increasing the range of the fog sliders.

While I appreciate the general idea of your comment. this:

Really depends on the day and where you live.

This is looking south from the harbour I'm looking out at now, and those mountains are about 100km (60 miles) from the viewpoint.

That's at sea level.

At altitude, the visible distance is greater.

When I was a kid, we walked up Mount Climie (up the valley from here @ 860m) on a particularly clear day, and at the top we could see Mt Taranaki in the distance (@ 2,518m), which was about 230 km (138 miles) away...

add altitudes

Cheers.

Yep... no doubt there are days like that. The problem is that, right now, there’s no in-between. You can have unlimited visibility or 5 mile visibility.
