Default AI fighters will not engage

How close does AI have to get to an emey aircraft before it will engage?


I've got Ai FW190s and BF109s flying straigh past B17 formations, within a km or 2. They just cruise on by, oblivious.


They are set to Fighter Sweep, with ROE set to "weapons free".
Skill level is "good" or "high".

Have seen this as well on the Warbirds of Prey server and have 3 posts out there talking about it. So far, it seems linked to the dedicated server setting of --norender (on by default with the pure dedicated server software). If you use the full install, you should be able to use --server but not the --norender and the AI should function properly, it does for WoP missions at least.

Seems they must be using actual visual render distances to trigger their behavour then.

Funny thing, this broke with 2.5.5. In 2.5.4 it was working fine with the --norender switch.

Rules of engagement - weapon free did the trick for me cause i had the same issues, i think that was prior to the last update tho

only moving away from the dedi server has worked. Also solved the problem with flak not firing.

Have you tried running a MP mission utilizing the "--norender" command line option on 2.5.5 and if so, are the visual type AI units engaging as they should?

For myself and others, this single option is what keeps the AI from working properly in 2.5.5. I am curious to find anyone who has different results to narrow the problem down even further.
