New mission "convoy escort"

Sounds like you have more experence with the ME than me. whats the easiest way to have one group follow another group? In the convoy mission I made I had to mess around with turning on and off the group AI until they kinda matched up. Right now they "escort" the convoy and I set the 2 groups for the same speed but the escort pulls ahead. I've also seen the follow command for some units but not others. Any fix for this?

Perfect!! thank you. Heads up I have a "haulin' trash" mission coming up here in about an hour. I think it will be interesting.

 

I'm currently working on a Black hawk down inspired scenario: 'Chickenhawk down'. Lot's of triggers and events, ambushes, infiltration, extraction etc...

 

But at one point I can't get the convoy moving again. Does not respond on flag stop conditions anymore. Drives me mad!

All my other missions I made within an hour or so, this new one i'm working on has degraded me to a pen and paper. Pen and paper..like an animal or something. I feel your pain.

 

I wish the ME implemented a collaboration feature. would be nice to be able to work jointly, BTW I think I found the max file size for either a mission or sound file(s). I tried to make 2 radio stations with 2 full album's and neither would play. The mission ended up being 120MB, that was with 44,000 sample rate with mono only.

 

I need to figure out the scripting part of the ME. what slows me down the most is all the 4-6 conditions you have to put for every landing trigger. "Chickenhawk down" sounds interesting, is there a "win" condition or are you modelling it to actual events?

Things will turn out better than in Mogadishu 20 years ago. if you provide no support all units will be killed though.The mission focuses on the convoy picking up hostages and the SF team that you just dropped near a safehouse. On the way hom things do not go as planned.

Finished in 1.10h.

 

Just sugestion for next - is it possible to give a choose for player (like in default missions) to take cold start or hot start? You can check it as for example default Elbrus Rescue mission.

Good job! Ya I'm gonna just through all my missions and make them cold start. I was worried people would get bored because the slow convoy (that's top speed for them), glad you finished and liked it. I'm working on a couple more missions, one of which is a medivac one. Better work on your speed flying , this one will be timed,if you're late he dies and you fail.

I haven't tried to mess with that yet. Would be good for a mission series I've been planning. Not sure if the interest would be there but it would be like a police support role. Car chases, find in fleeing subjects etc ext, pretty much what they use police helicopters for in the real world.

im still bored that rockets are a better weapon that miniguns because of the delayed trigger, but...

The triggers would need modifying. With a mission with no triggers you can just do as you said.

 

**edit** If you'd like to make it MP your self- On all the triggers that have unit (huey pilot name) just add an "or" with the 2nd, 3rd,ect clients pilots name. That would be a quick and dirty way to do it but should work, you'll probably have issues still but at least it would get you started.

Thank you, it seems like they changed the minigun spread on the ground. It could just be a me but it feels different. As always if you have any ideas for missions send me a PM or post on one of the mission discussion threads.

Idea for difficult missions

 

Hi and great mission you're producing.

 

I thought it might be a good idea to have one or more 'news chopper' missions, in war zones or otherwise, in which various flying skills are going to be needed to both follow the action, and stay out of everyone else's way.

 

just matching speeds with a truck is hard so producing footage (if that's possible) of battles would be very difficult I'd imagine.

 

Anyway, keep up the good work, I'm loving it all!

This is a longer more detailed mission. Will take about an hour or so to complete, there's plenty to do and shoot at (as well as dodging BEING shot at). This mission will test your combat and chopper handling skills, you'll be at near max MTOW most of the time (weapons load out and other) during the mission. Word of advice save some ammo for the end by the bridge, you don't have to kill every living thing to complete the mission just make sure the convoy makes it.

 

I'd leave labels on for the first time you play as there is infantry not out in the open.

 

MISSION

 

Let me know if there's any errors or broken triggers, or how you like it. To avoid confusion when told to RTB that means your home base.(the one you took off from)
