Please no civil aircrafts ... this is not FSX! :noexpression:

Why all the hate against civil aircraft? Tell me - is the slick variant of Huey still military aircraft?

Of course, this is not FSX and thanx god for that! FSX can't compete in FM with DCS

Because people have selfish expectations when it comes to personal preference. Since they don't want it they want to make sure no one else has the option either. I say more add-on the merrier. :music_whistling:

My words... I love flying, no matter which aircraft, rotary or fixed wing. The most important thing that matters for me is as acurate FM as it can be. The second are accurate avionics and other systems. Shootings tin cans on the ground or other birds sharing the air is only a nice addition :smilewink:

There are tons of scenarios that warrant civil aircraft.

Search and Rescue, Civilian evacuation. I always thought it would be nice if the civ traffic was a little more realistic during combat situations instead of casually driving past a bmp just after its hit by a maverick. I.E. Ground troops pushing west to sochi city, mass traffic evacuating to Sochi airport to flee.

or

Foreign Diplomats, with figher escort.

tons of scenarios that can use civil aircraft.

What would really improve gameplay in my opinion is more of a player controlled pilot for when your shot down, and actually flee to a safe area, and call a SAR aircraft. For more sim oriented servers anyways. Like you can go ahead and take a respawn but theres a time penalty like a min or 2 and pilot is considered killed. And part of availible resources is not only numbers of aircraft but numbers of pilots

Logistics is critical in a theater. Cargo transport of materials has a lot of crossover with civil aircraft. Not much a a stretch to do a FedEx 727 vs a USAF KC-135.

If we had a full DCS fighter or multirole-jet on each side: yeah, ok. Why not? But at the current state of the sim and with that few military aircrafts, 6 of them only FC-modelled and simulated, the primary fix should be on more DCS military "fighter" aircrafts.

What some people don't seem to understand is that a LOT of military logistics is actually contracted out to civilian aircraft operators. 747's and the like make regular runs out to Kandahar and Bagram. Even if that weren't the case, do you really think that civilian air traffic would just halt because of a minor conflict? Not likely. People still need to get in and out of country, supplies still need to be trucked in so that people don't starve and can have nice things.

I agree with you, but you need to remember one important thing.

If a developer chooses to make a civilian aircraft, I would much rather he develop it for DCS than another flight sim. I would also hope the developer would feel welcome to the community, because essentially they will produce what they want where they feel the most welcome. These conversations keep popping up in 3rd party or about 3rd party developers. They can just continue working on fsx if that's what you want, but I don't see how that will ever help the DCS community, especially with all the talent out there. Some people are good at 747's because that's what they know. Everybody keeps discussing it as if it were ED themselves deciding, I don't see how any of these debates will ever allow this community grow, or even how its related to what ED are doing with what they bring us. It's 3rd party stuff, like free falcon where the debate has moved to bms now and its between its an f16 game and we don't want more planes. So guess why I am here..... Let me give you a hint, its not only a ____ game. So I think we all need to step back and evaluate what kind of message we are sending to the people who would like to bring us more content, whether its something we would fly or not.

+1!

BTW there is more than one way to have fun flying a simulator. Why should we as a community try and keep content and potential gamers out?

A bigger community is a stronger market, is to be provided more and better content because its economically making sense.

I say bring em on,hell I'd like to see DCS space shuttle while youre at it lol. I think the civilian aircraft would be a welcome addition as it would also help with that "sterile" feel that DCS has at times.

From RAZBAM Facebook:

The T-2 will be our 1st DCS product, since it´s a naval ops trainer and can be used (as it was in real life) as a F-18 Hornet proficiency trainer and such, with the DCS Hornet. After the T-2 we´ll move into the M2000C, where more stuff will be used and then on.DCS is a very complex platform, very demanding and most of all, we can´t move as fast as we would like into it.

So the Harrier will be out in about 10 years then. :-0

Based on this statement, you might be about right.

...because it is just me doing all the coding work at RAZBAM and I have other stuff in my in tray. Including the T-2 for DCS. So I have to time share between projects and for me that is a killing proposition since I have to switch gears and problems.

I agree. I am honestly surprised there are not more coders working for RAZBAM. I have been given the impression by others on these forums that art assets are a relatively small portion of the work that goes into a proper DCS module compared to the systems/flight/damage modeling. Maybe they will acquire more coders if the workload demands it.

I am still looking forward to the T-2 of course, because in all likelihood it will be the first DCS naval aircraft released. I wonder if it will receive similar treatment (by ED) as the Belsimtek products upon release.

My guess would be no, Razbam is 3rd party, belsimtek is a partner.

I just reread the "What is DCS" post, and the distinction may be fuzzy. I cropped the unnecessary stuff and bolded for emphasis. It looks like the T-2 is a partner product to me.

[...]Future products from The Fighter Collection and Eagle Dynamics in the DCS line are in development and will includes partner products like the UH-1H "Huey", MiG-21bis "Fishbed", T-2 "Buckeye", BAE "Hawk", and Mi-8MT-V2 "Hip".[...]

Partner products to DCS are supported by ED and there are already several qualified 3rd party teams creating new aircraft that will plug into DCS World.[...]

I think it is useless to debate how good a product is or will be until such product is actually available. The UH-1H is great in my opinion. It still has rough edges, but clearly demonstrates someone besides ED can release something to the full DCS standard. Regardless of the legal name for the relationship between ED and any third parties, they should be able to match this standard. If they don't, they won't get my money. If I just want a pretty 3d model that I can paint any color I want without regard to systems fidelity I already have two very good options: FSX for tooling around with clickable cockpits or Strike Fighters 2 for combat without regards to systems fidelity. It is a waste of my time and money to buy a Flaming Cliffs aircraft if they are not going to eventually be offered at the full DCS level. I reserve the right to judge each product after they are released rather than based on screenshots, speculation, marketing hype, or the quality of other products.
