So, when can I fly it?

The only unfortunate thing is that I will not be able to enjoy these stunning graphics you created there because VR isn't there, yet. 1st world problem I guess...

Keep up the good work. Looking forward to ditching the Gazelle for this baby!

Hi guys,

Yesterday I had an interresing phonecall with Rainer Wilke. A lot of informative stuff came up. Also the fact that BO-105 trainees are tought to fly a close pattern with the BO-105 ONLY with Collective and Pedals.
e.g. when you want to fly a right turn you just raise the collective and compensate it with the pedals due to the fact when you pull the collective the helicopter rolls right and nose going up.

Same for left turn. When you push the collective, the BO-105 rolls left and nose down.

After all - The Collective down effect is more intense then the collective up effect. All these effects are up to the forward speed. The faster you fly the more aggressive is the effect and it's also up to the speed how you move the collective.
Let's say you fly 60 kTS and pull the collective fast down, the heli completely rolls to the left (Skids up / Rotor down) and the nose is pointing to the ground. This happens within half a second. At 500 feet, your lost.

Thanks to the hingeless rotorsystem

That's an interesting behaviour. Did Wilke learn to fly the Bo-105 at RedBull or was he an army pilot or something like that before?

Interesting. Seems it is already implemented in DCS Bo-105? Because the guy who did the preview has written about that behavior:
Quote:
The rigless rotor system has nasty side effects. You will always need to counter control when you initiate a control input. For example - When you raise the collective the helicopter rolls right upwards and when you push the collective down the helicopter rolls left downwards.

Dont know if he really meant the DCS Bo though...

That sounds awesome! He surely qualifies as SME.

Any chance you can get him to test your FM once it's in a state where you need feedback from RL pilots? That would be so cool!
